India observed 25th anniversary of the 1998 pokhran nuclear tests
On the 25th anniversary of the 1998 Pokhran nuclear tests, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh addressed an event.
He said that through these tests India had sent a message to the world that although India is a peace-loving nation, it would not let anyone harm its sovereignty and integrity. On May 11, 1998, India successfully conducted three nuclear bomb test explosions in Pokhran, Rajasthan. Two more bombs were tested on 13 May. The code name of the 1998 Pokhran nuclear test was Operation Shakti (literally, “strength”). These tests were fully successful in terms of achieving their scientific objectives. It enabled India to build fission and thermonuclear weapons with yields up to 200 kt (kilotons.)
India came out with an official nuclear doctrine in 2003, which clearly explained the ‘no first use’ policy. With these tests, India entered the club of countries having the capability to deploy nuclear weapons. India conducted its first nuclear test in May 1974. Pokhran-I’s code name was Operation Smiling Buddha. India’s nuclear programme was started by Homi J Bhaba.

According to a report by aviation analytical firm, CIrium, GMR Hyderabad International Airport is the most punctual airport in the world.
The airport has recorded 90.43 per cent on-time performance. It is the only airport to surpass the 90% mark. Hyderabad airport has topped the charts both in the ‘Global Airports’ and ‘Large Airports’ categories.
In November 2022, it was ranked fourth in the large airport category with an on-time performance of 88.44 percent. It was selected based on the actual gate departure service. Indian duo Divya TS and Sarabjot Singh won gold in ISSF shotgun world cup
On 11 May, Indian pair won the gold medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the ongoing International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The Indian pair registered a 16-14 win over Serbian veterans Damir Micek and Zorana Arunovic in the final match. This was the second ISSF World Cup gold for Sarabjot, who won the individual air pistol in Bhopal in March 2023.
Divya has won the first senior medal at the international level. Turkiye’s Ismail Keles and Simal Yilmaz won the bronze medal. Hriday Hazarika won the silver medal in the men’s 10m air rifle event with a score of 251.9 in the final. Nancy also won the silver medal in the women’s 10m air rifle event with a score of 253.3. Rhythm Sangwan has won a bronze medal in the women’s 10m air pistol.
RBI launches ‘100 days 100 pays’ campaign
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has launched a campaign ‘100 Days 100 Pays’ for banks to trace and settle the top 100 unclaimed deposits of every bank in every district of the country within 100 days.
Aim: To reduce the quantum of unclaimed deposits in the banking system and return such deposits to their rightful owners/claimants
An unclaimed deposit is one which does not see any activity for 10 years or more and is deemed as an inactive deposit.
5th edition of global ayurveda festival
