36, 38, (5P + 3Q), 177, 434, 1185 Find the minimum possible value of Q, where P and Q

Q. 36, 38, (5P + 3Q), 177, 434, 1185 Find the minimum possible value of Q, where P and Q are positive integers.

A.11

    B.16

    C.3

    D.1

    E. None of these

    Ans: 1

    Sol:

    36 x 0.5 + 20 = 38
    38 x 1 + 40 = 78
    78 x 1.5 + 60 = 177
    177 x 2 + 80 = 434
    434 x 2.5 + 100 = 1185
    So,
    5P + 3Q = 78
    P = (78 – 3Q)/5
When P is maximum then Q is minimum.
    On putting Q = 1, P = 15
    So, required value = 1
    Hence answer is option D
