The circumference of circle A is 44 cm more than the circumference of circle B and the ratio of the radius of circle A to circle B is 3:2

The circumference of circle A is 44 cm more than the circumference of circle B and the ratio of the radius of circle A to circle B is 3:2. Find the area of circle B?

A.            462 cm2

B.            616 cm2

C.            308 cm2

D.            154 cm2

C.            None of these

Sol:

Let the radius of circle A = 3x

And the radius of circle B = 2x

2 * 22/7 * 3x – 2 * 22/7 * 2x = 44

3x – 2x = 44 * 7/(22 * 2)

x = 7

The radius of circle B = 2 * 7 = 14 cm The area of circle B = 22/7 * 142 = 616 cm2
