England all-rounder Moeen Ali announces retirement from Test cricket

England cricketer Moeen Ali has announced his retirement from Test match career on September 27, 2021, the England and Wales Cricket Board confirmed on Monday. Earlier on Sunday, reports had stated that Moeen had already informed captain Joe Root and head coach Chris Silverwood of his decision to call time on his Test career, and a day later, the 34-year-old made the official announcement. The 34-year-old Ali made his debut in Test cricket in 2014 and represented England in 64 Test matches. He took 195 Test wickets including 5 five-wicket hauls and scored five-Test match centuries during his Test career.
