HDFC Mutual Fund launches Missed Call Advisory Service #LaxmiForLaxmi for Women Investors
HDFC Mutual Fund has launched #LaxmiForLaxmi on the occasion of International Women’s Day 2022. #LaxmiForLaxmi is an end-to-end women-led missed call advisory service #LaxmiForLaxmi. #LaxmiForLaxmi is a financial empowerment campaign for women under which women investors will be connected to a woman financial expert near them through a missed call service.
The woman financial expert will then guide and address queries of woman investors, to better understand concepts such as why and how to invest in a mutual fund, benefits of systematic investment plans (SIPs), etc. HDFC Mutual Fund wants to make women investors financially independent and make mutual fund investments more accessible to them.
Singapore’s T Raja Kumar appointed as next President of FATF
Singapore’s T Raja Kumar has been appointed as the president of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), the global money laundering and terrorism financing watchdog. He will assume office with effect from July 01, 2022. for a fixed period of two-year term.
Mr. Kumar will replace Dr. Marcus Pleyer of Germany. T. Raja Kumar is the current Head of Singapore’s delegation to the FATF since 2015. This will be the first time that Singapore is taking on the Presidency of FATF, since becoming its member in 1992.
He has served as co-chairman of the National Interagency Committee on Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism since January 2015 and driven Singapore’s efforts to meet FATF Standards.
Centre approves appointment of Justice DN Patel as chairperson of TDSAT
The Central Government has cleared the appointment of Delhi High Court Chief Justice DN Patel as Chairperson of Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT), for a period of four years, or until further orders.
Justice Patel will retire as Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court on March 12, 2022. He will replace the incumbent TDSAT Chairperson Justice Shiva Kirti Singh.
Indian GM S L Narayanan wins Grandiscacchi Cattolica International Open Chess Tournament
Indian Grandmaster S L Narayanan emerged winner in the Grandiscacchi Cattolica International Open, held in Italy on March 08, 2022, while his compatriot R Praggnanandhaa finished runner-up. Meanwhile his compatriot R Praggnanandhaa came second.
The 24-year old S L Narayanan from Thiruvananthapuram, earned the title of Grandmaster in 2015 and is the 41st Grandmaster from India.
India’s largest reclining statue of Lord Buddha being built at Bodh Gaya
The largest reclining statue of Lord Buddha in India is being built in Bodh Gaya, Bihar. India’s Buddhist pilgrimage circuit is being proactively revived and Bodh Gaya is an integral part of it. Hence, the site of Gautam Buddha’s enlightenment will soon be home to his largest reclining statue. The statue of Lord Buddha is in the sleeping posture. It is being made using fiberglass. The statue will be 30 feet high and 100 feet long.
The giant statue is being built by Buddha International Welfare Mission, one of the top Buddhist Temples in West Bengal (also known as Kolkata Temple). Its construction started in the year 2019.Bodh Gaya is the place of enlightenment of Lord Buddha, and famous pilgrimage site for Buddhism, visited by devotees from all over the world.
Sebi raises UPI limit for investing in debt securities to Rs 5 lakh
The market watchdog Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has increased the limit for investment through Unified Payments Interface (UPI) mechanism to ₹5 lakh for investors applying in public issues of debt securities based on discussions with market participants.
The increased limit of ₹5 lakh via UPI mode will be effective on public issues of debt securities which will open on or after May 1, 2022. Debt securities can include Non-convertible Securities, Securitised Debt Instruments, Security Receipts, Municipal Debt Securities and Commercial Paper.
This has been done to bring uniformity in UPI limit allowed in IPO subscription. Earlier NPCI had increased the per transaction limit in UPI from Rs. 2 lakh to Rs. 5 lakh for UPI-based Application Supported by Blocked Amount (ASBA) Initial Public Offer(IPO).
Cabinet approves establishment of WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in Jamnagar, Gujarat
The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the establishment of the WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine (WHO GCTM) in Jamnagar, Gujarat by signing a Host Country agreement between the Government of India and the World Health Organization (WHO). This would be the first and only global Centre for traditional medicine across the globe, set up by the World Health Organization (WHO). The WHO GCTM will be established under the Ministry of AYUSH.
Cabinet approves setting up of National Land Monetization Corporation as a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for monetization of surplus land
The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the setting up National Land Monetization Corporation (NLMC) as a wholly owned Government of India company with an initial authorized share capital of Rs 5000 crore and paid-up share capital of Rs 150 crore. NLMC will hold and monetise surplus land and building assets, of Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) and other Government agencies, that are being privatised or being shut down. The proposal is in pursuance of the Budget Announcement for 2021-22. NLMC shall be a wholly-owned Government of India company. It will be set up under the administrative jurisdiction of the Ministry of Finance.

Priyanka Nutakki becomes 23rd Woman Grandmaster (WGM) of India
Priyanka Nutakki has become the 23rd Woman Grandmaster, securing her final WGM-norm at MPL’s forty-seventh National Women Chess Championship. 19-year-old Priyanka Nutakki hails from Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.
Priyanka secured her final WGM-norm at MPL 47th National Women Chess Championship, on March 02, 2022. She secured her first WGM-norm in January 2019.
TEC, DoT launches Skill Development training program for girl students
Telecommunication Engineering Center (TEC) in collaboration with industry has organized skill development training program for girl students from rural backgrounds.
EMC Test and Training Center, has volunteered to impart online training program on EMI/EMC testing for one-week duration. 25 girl students from far-flung rural areas of various states have enrolled for this one-week training programme. TEC is the designated authority for the implementation of this scheme.
AIM, NITI Aayog joins hands with Snap Inc to drive AR skilling
Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog has announced its partnership with Snap Inc. to drive Augmented Reality (AR) skilling among the Indian youth.
The partnership is initially for 2 years and is expected to train over 12,000 teachers affiliated with Atal Tinkering Labs on Augmented Reality, enabling the reach of the program to millions of students affiliated with ATL’s network of schools.
Snap Inc also announced its partnership with Atal Incubation Centers (AICs)
GeM launches ‘Stitching and Tailoring Services’ in partnership with USHA
Government eMarketplace (GeM) has launched Stitching and Tailoring Services on the GeM portal in partnership with USHA International through its Silai School Programme
It will open new opportunities for Usha Silai Women and self-help groups to enhance their livelihood incomes through sewing orders placed by various Govt depts and agencies
Under this initiative, GeM will collaborate with USHA Silai School in developing stitching and tailoring service for Govt buyers.
