Speed of the boat downstream = 14 + 6 = 20
km/hr
Speed of the boat upstream = 14 – 6 = 8 km/hr
Let distance covered between A and B = x km
Then, according to the question,
x/20 + (x/1.5)/8 = 112
x/20 + x/12 = 112
(3x + 5x)/60 = 112
8x/60 = 112
x = 112 × 60/8
x = 840 km
