A person distributed Rs.75000 among three persons P, Q, and R such that P alone get Rs.15000 less than what Q and R together got. If the amount received by Q is 80% of that of R, then what percent of the total amount is given to person P?

a) 60%

b) 50%

c) 30%

d) 45%

e) 40%

Sol:

Let the amount received by Q and R is ‘4x’ and

‘5x’ respectively.

Amount received by P = (4x + 5x) – 15000 = (9x

– 15000)

According to the question:

4x + 5x + (9x – 15000) = 75000

18x = 90000

x = 5000

Total amount received by P = 9x – 15000 =

Rs.30000

Required percent = (30000/75000) * 100 = 40%
