A state of emergency has been declared in Ethiopia amid Amhara clashes: On 4 August, the government of Ethiopia announced a state of emergency. This emergency has been declared after several days of clashes between federal security forces and local ethnic militias in the northern Amhara region. Intense fighting broke out at the beginning of the week between the Ethiopian National Defense Force and the Fano militia group.
