A vessel containing the ratio of milk and water is 4:3 respectively

A vessel containing the ratio of milk and water is 4:3 respectively. When 15 liters of water are added to the mixture, now the quantity of milk and water in the mixture become equal. If 21 liters of mixture is taken out from the initial mixture, then find the quantity of milk in the new mixture?

a)            36 liters

b)            48 liters

c)            24 liters

d)            56 liters

e)            None of these

Sol:

Let the quantity of milk in the initial mixture=4x

And the quantity of water in the initial mixture=3x

4x/(3x+15)=1/1

4x=3x+15

x=15

Quantity of milk in the initial mixture=4*15=60

liters

Quantity of water in the initial mixture=3*15=45

liters

Required quantity of milk in the new mixture=(60-

21*4/7)=60-12=48 liters
