About Bharat Jodo Yatra

In this article, we provide comprehensive information about Bharat Jodo Yatra. The Bharat Jodo Yatra (Unite India March) was a significant political and social movement led by the Indian National Congress under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi. Launched on September 7, 2022, from Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, it was a nationwide padayatra (foot march) covering over 4,000 kilometers across 12 states and 2 Union Territories, concluding in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, on January 30, 2023.

About:Bharat Jodo Yatra (lit. ’Unite India March’) was a mass movement which was held by the Indian National Congress (“the Congress” or INC as short form). Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi orchestrated the movement by encouraging the party cadre and the public to walk from Kanyakumari at the southern tip of India to the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, a journey of 4,080 kilometres (2,540 miles) over almost 150 days. The campaign aimed to boost the party’s electoral engagement nationwide and is viewed as a strategy for the upcoming national elections. This political tour followed the Bharat Jodo Yatra. However, unlike the previous one, this Yatra was not conducted entirely on foot; it utilized a hybrid approach. For the longer segments of the journey, the party opted for buses. This change was necessitated by the time constraints posed by the approaching general election. The Congress Party stated that the initial Bharat Jodo Yatra highlighted issues of economic inequality, social division, and an authoritarian style of governance. In contrast, the forthcoming Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will focus on advocating for social, economic, and political justice for the citizens of the nation. The slogan for the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is Nyay Ka Haq Milne Tak (“Until we get our right to justice”).
