About:District Gurugram is situated 30 km south of the National Capital, New Delhi, and about 10 kilometers from the Dwarka sub-city, while being 268 km south of Chandigarh, the state capital. Over the last 25 years, the city has experienced significant development and construction. Gurugram is one of the major satellite cities of Delhi and is part of the National Capital Region. It is within commuting distance of Delhi via an expressway and Delhi Metro.The District is the second largest city in the Indian State of Haryana and is the industrial and financial centre of Haryana. According to legend, Yudhishter, the eldest of the Pandavas, gifted the village to his guru, Dronacharya, whose tank still remains on the west side of the Railway Road. The actual village of “Gurgaon” is located about 1.5 km from Gurugram town, where the Sheetla Mata temple draws large crowds of devotees every Monday and Tuesday.
History:Gurgaon was historically inhabited by the Hindu people, and in early times it formed a part of an extensive kingdom ruled over be Ahir clan. In Earlier History is told that it was the Village of guru Dronacharya who was the Teacher of Kauravas and Pandvas. During Akbar’s reign, Gurugram fell within the governing regions of Delhi and Agra. As the Mughal empire started to decline, the place was torn between contending powers. By 1803 most of it came under the British rule through the treaty of Surji Arjungaon with Sindhia. The town was first occupied by the cavalry unit posted to watch the army of begum Samru of Sirdhana. It become a Part of the district, which was divided into units called parganas. These units were given to petty chiefs for the military service rendered by them. Eventually these units came under direct control of the British, with the last major administrative change n 1836. After the revolt of 1857, it was transferred from the North-Western provinces to Punjab province. In 1861, the district, which Gurugram was a part of was rearranged into five tehsils: Gurgaon, Ferozepur Jhirka, Nuh, Palwal and Rewari (10) and the modern-day city came under the control of Gurgaon tehsil. in 1947, Gurgaon became a part of independent India and fell under the Indian state of Punjab. In 1966, the city came under the administration of Haryana with the creation of the new state.  
Economy:Gurgaon boasts the third highest per-capita income in India and hosts the Indian offices of half of the Fortune 500 companies. Its close proximity to Delhi further enhances its appeal. In addition to the business process outsourcing and IT sectors, the city is home to various companies that focus on specialized expertise. For instance, Siemens Industry Software, located in Gurgaon Business Park, developed a suite of design software that NASA utilized to digitally design, simulate, and assemble vehicles before creating any physical prototypes. Numerous international firms, such as Coca-Cola, Pepsi, BMW, Agilent Technologies, and Hyundai, have established their Indian corporate headquarters in Gurgaon, a trend that continues into the 2020s with Cargill and Nissan following suit. The city is also the base for airlines like Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet, and Vistara.
