India’s Adani Group has reportedly taken over the management of Jaipur International Airport (JIA) in the state of Rajasthan from the Airports Authority of India (AAI), which manages civil aviation infrastructure in the country.
The company assumed the operations in the early hours of Monday (11 October 2021), after the airport director J S Balhara gave airports symbolic key to Adani Jaipur International chief airport officer Vishnu Jha.
Jaipur airport has been leased out to Adani Group for 50 years by the Government of India. Adani Airports will work on the operations, management, and development of the Jaipur airport through PPP mode.
The first flight after the takeover was from Delhi to Jaipur. The group will take over the control of the entire facility except for the cargo terminal, Air Traffic Control (ATC), and Communication, Navigation & Surveillance (CNS), which will continue to be operated by AAI. The private group Adani will have to develop their own cargo terminal.
