ADITYA: INDIA’S FIRST SOLAR FERRY

- India’s first solar-powered ferry, Aditya is among 12 such ferries that have been shortlised for the Gustave Trouve Award. It is the solar entrant from Asia.
- Aditya, largest solar-powered boat in India, operates between vaikkom and Thavanakkadavu, Kerela operated by the Kerela state Water Transport Department (KSWTD), the vessel was designed and built by Navalt Solar and Electric Boat, Kochi.
- Gustave Trouve Award: Gussies Electric Boat Awards were instituted in memory of Gustave Trouve, a French electrical engineer and pioneer in electric cars and boats.
