AK Sikri is appointed as an international judge of the Singapore International Commercial Court

Justice AK Sikri is appointed as an international judge of the Singapore International Commercial Court (SICC). A press release in the official website of the Singapore Prime Minister’s office stated that the President of the Republic of Singapore, on the advice of the Prime Minister, has made the appointment of Justice Sikri from August 1. His appointment is until Jan 4, 2021.

The SICC is a division of the Singapore high court and part of the Supreme Court of that country, designed to deal with transnational commercial disputes.
It currently has 16 international judges as part of its panel.
Justice AK Sikri was recently appointed as the chairperson of the news broadcasting standards authority (NBSA) by the news broadcasters association (NBA).
He retired as a Supreme Court judge on March 6 this year, after serving for nearly six years following his elevation in April 2013.
He also served as Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana high court, and acting Chief Justice of the Delhi high court. He was appointed as a judge of the Delhi high court in 1999.

About Justice A.K Sikri:
On July 7, 1999, Justice Sikri was appointed as a judge of the Delhi High Court. SIKRI was elevated as Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court on September 23, 2012. He served as a Supreme Court as a judge on April 12, 2013. 
Sikri  was nominated in January 2018 for appointment to the Commonwealth Secretariat ArbitralTribunal (CSAT) at London in United Kingdom (UK). On 14 May 2019 he was appointed as Chairman of News Broadcasting Standards Authority (NBSA).

SICC was officially launched on 5 January 2015.  SICC is established asa  part of Supreme Court of Singapore, and is a division of the Singapore High Court. SICC deals with international commercial disputes and has 16 international judges in its panel.
