PM Modi unveiled the famous Dancing Girl of Mohenjodaro at the International Museum Expo in Delhi’s Pragati Maidan.Dancing Girl It is a bronze statuette created over 4,500 years ago during the Indus valley Civilisation. It was found in the ancient Mohenjo-Daro site in 1926. This statue reflecting the aesthetics of a female body as conceptualized during that historical period. The bronze girl was made using the lost-wax casting technique. The statuette was named Dancing Girl based on an assumption of her profession. She is one of two bronze artworks found at Mohenjo-Daro that shows a more natural pose than compared to other more formal figures. The statuette has large eyes, a flat nose, healthy cheeks, curly hair, and a broad forehead. She is a tall figure with long legs and arms, high neck, subdued belly, and sensuously modeled. The girl wears some bangles and a necklace. She has 25 bracelets on her left arm and four bangles on her right arm and is holding an object in her left hand. Her long hair styled as big bun rested on her shoulder. Lost Wax Technique This wax model is then covered with a clay coating, leaving some holes as passageways. When the clay-covered moulds are heated in the oven, the wax melts out. After the mould has cooled down, the outer clay cover is chipped off and the finishing touches are done to the solid bronze statue.

Solution
Allahabad High Court ordered a scientific survey, including carbon dating, of a Shivling that have been found at the Gyanvapi mosque complex, Varanasi.Carbon Dating Carbon dating is a widely used method to determine the age of organic materials, things that were once living. The dating method is based on Carbon-14 (C-14), an isotope of carbon with an atomic mass of 14, is radioactive, and decays at a well known rate. The most abundant isotope of carbon in the atmosphere is C-12 and a very small amount of C-14 is also present. The ratio of C-12 to C-14 in the atmosphere is almost static, and is known. Half Life – While C-12 is stable, the radioactive C-14 reduces to one half of itself in about 5,730 years known as its half-life. There are other methods to calculate the age of inanimate things that are more than 40,000-50,000 years old because after 8-10 cycles of half-lives, the amount of C-14 becomes almost very small. Radiometric Dating Methods – It is based on the same principle as carbon dating and is known as radiometric dating methods. Two commonly employed methods for dating rocks are potassium-argon dating and uranium-thorium-lead dating. The radioactive isotope of potassium decays into argon, and their ratios can give a clue about the age of rocks. Uranium and thorium have several radioactive isotopes, and all of them decay into the stable lead atom. The ratios of these elements present in the material can be measured and used to make estimates about age.

Indus River System The Indus River rises in the south west of Tibet Autonomous Region of China and flows through the disputed Kashmir region and then into Pakistan to drain into the Arabian Sea. It is joined by numerous tributaries, notably those of the eastern Punjab Plain which are the Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Beas, and Sutlej rivers. The Indus River system has been used for irrigation. Indus Waters Treaty Indus Waters Treaty was signed on September 1960, between India and Pakistan and brokered by the World Bank. The treaty fixed and delimited the rights and obligations of both countries concerning the use of the waters of the Indus River system. The treaty gave the waters of the western rivers (the Indus, Jhelum, and Chenab) to Pakistan. The eastern rivers (the Ravi, Beas, and Sutlej) were given to India. Under the treaty India is also obligated to let flow all the waters of the western rivers and shall not permit any interference. Proprietary rights of eastern rivers (Article II, Sutlej, Ravi and Beas) vest with India whereas proprietary rights of western rivers (Article III, the Indus, Jhelum and Chenab) vest with Pakistan.
