Arul and Arun started the business with the investment of Rs.(x + 1000) and Rs.(x – 500) respectively

Q.

Arul and Arun started the business with the investment of Rs.(x + 1000) and Rs.(x – 500) respectively. After one year, Arun withdrew Rs.450 from its initial investment. At the end of two years, the total profit of the business is Rs.11400 and the profit share of Arul is Rs.8000. Find the value of x?

A. 2000

B. 3000

C. 1500

D. 2500

E. 3500

Sol:

Profit ratio of Arul and Arun = (x + 1000) * 2:((x –

500) * 1 + (x – 500 – 450) * 1)

= (2x + 2000):(2x – 1450)

(2x + 2000)/(4x + 550) = 8000/11400

160x + 22000 = 114x + 114000

x = 2000
