Arun traveled ‘K’ km with speed of S km/h in 2.5 hours. Varun traveled twice the distance traveled by Arun in 3 hours 20 minutes

Q. Arun traveled ‘K’ km with speed of S km/h in 2.5 hours. Varun traveled twice the distance traveled by Arun in 3 hours 20 minutes, while Tarun traveled (2K – 40) km in 10 hours. Speed of Varun is 4M km/h more than Arun, while speed of Tarun, Arun and Varun are in increasing AP (Same order). Speed of Tarun is_______km/h.

I.             4M km/h

II.            S/2 km/h

III.           2S/3 km/h

A. I only

B. II only

C. III only

D. I and II only

E. None of these

Ans: I and II only

Sol:

According to Question,
K = S x 2.5……………. (1)
2K = (S + 4M) x 10/3…………… (2)
2 x S x 2.5 = (S + 4M) x 10/3
3S = 2S + 8M
S = 8M
Speed of Arun = 8M
Speed of Varun = 8M + 4M = 12M
Speed of Tarun, Arun and Varun are in
increasing AP (in same order)
So, speed of Tarun = 8M – 4M

So, Only I and II follows
Hence answer is option D.
