Cabinet Approves Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan
The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has recently approved the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN), a comprehensive initiative aimed at addressing the challenges faced by Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs). This scheme, with a substantial total outlay of Rs 24,104 crore, reflects the government’s commitment to uplift tribal communities across the country.Announcement and AllocationPrime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the PM-JANMAN on Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas in Jharkhand’s Khunti, emphasizing the significance of empowering these communities.
Focus on Particularly Vulnerable Tribal GroupsSeventy-five communities spread across 18 states and the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands have been identified as Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).
Key Interventions and Ministries InvolvedThe PM-JANMAN is designed to implement 11 critical interventions, spanning across nine ministries, including the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
Ministry of Ayush’s Role
- The Ministry of Ayush plays a pivotal role in the PM-JANMAN initiative by establishing Ayush Wellness Centres in line with existing norms.
- These wellness centres aim to provide traditional Ayush healthcare facilities to PVTG habitations.
- Additionally, the scheme envisions extending Ayush facilities to PVTGs through mobile medical units, ensuring healthcare reaches the doorstep of these vulnerable communities.
