Central health teamed to monitor 20 districts with heavy case load

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in India crossed 40,000, making it one among 16 countries that have crossed that figure. With 83 more deaths since Saturday, a single-day high, the death toll nationwide has gone up to 1,306.

The teams have been constituted to support the States in the implementation of containment measures for COVID-19 in the affected areas within these districts/cities.

The teams will assist the State Governments.

The 20 districts that are reporting the maximum number of COVID-19 are Mumbai, Maharashtra; Ahmedabad, Gujarat; Delhi (South East); Indore, Madhya Pradesh; Pune, Maharashtra; Jaipur, Rajasthan; Thane, Maharashtra; Surat, Gujarat; Chennai, Tamil Nadu; Hyderabad, Telangana; Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh; Jodhpur, Rajasthan; Delhi (Central); Agra, Uttar Pradesh; Kolkata, West Bengal; Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh; Vadodara, Gujarat; Guntur, Andhra Pradesh; Krishna, Andhra Pradesh; Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.

As of 4 May, India has 130 red zones, 284 orange zones, and 319 green zones. They will be opened up gradually as per the Home Ministry guidelines.
