PRISMATIC COMPASS vs SURVEYOR’S COMPASS

PRISMATIC COMPASS-

  1. Graduated ring attached to magnetic needle.
  2. Graduated are marked on the ring in clock wise direction with 0 degree or 360 degree at south end.
  3. Sighting and reading bearing are done simultaneously.
  4. This can be used with or without stand.

SURVEYOR’S COMPASS—

  1. Graduated ring being attached with the compass box.
  2. Graduation are marked both anti-clock wise direction dividing the ring 0 degree to 90 degree in each quadrant. Zero are at north or south and 90 degree at east or west.
  3. Sighting first and then taken reading by marked eye by going over the box.
  4. This can not be used without stand.
