The world demand for energy is growing every year. The more goods and services we produce, the more energy we will need. Energy is necessary for almost all sectors of our economy including agriculture, industry, transport, commercial and domestic. This makes it so important to explore ways to conserve our precious energy resources.
There are many questions raised about the need for conserving energy that is available to us under different circumstances. The government, with its drive towards “energy independence,” has stressed on the importance of conserving energy. But conservation of energy plays an important role in many other sectors as well.
Every sector of the national economy — agriculture, industry, transport, commercial and domestic — needs inputs of energy.
There is an urgent need to develop a sustainable path for energy development. Here are some ways that each one of us can contribute to save energy resources:
- Using public transport systems instead of individual vehicles
- Switching off electricity when not in use
- Using power-saving devices.
- Using non-conventional sources of energy
