Delhi Govt launches “Delhi Startup Policy” to aid the entrepreneur

The Delhi cabinet has approved the “Delhi Startup Policy” with an aim to create an ecosystem for people to launch startups and provide them with fiscal and non-fiscal incentives, collateral-free loans, and free consultancy from experts, lawyers, and CA. it also aims to encourage, facilitate, and support 15,000 startups by 2030.

The startup policy will focus education and education technology; healthcare and health technology; tourism and hospitality; transportation & logistics; automotive; e-governance for business and citizen connect; artificial intelligence (AI); machine learning (ML); Internet of Things (IoT); Software-as-a-Service (SaaS); fintech; e-waste management; robotics & automation; green technology; bio-pharma & medical Devices; and IT & ITES.

Haryana Govt Launches ‘e-Adhigam’ Scheme to distribute tablets to students

Haryana Govt Launches ‘e-Adhigam’ Scheme to distribute tablets to students– The Haryana State Government launches the ‘e-Adhigam’ scheme under which nearly 3 lakh students will be receiving tablet computers to aid their online education. The state government has planned to provide the gadget to five lakh students. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar launched the Advance Digital Haryana Initiative of Government with Adaptive Modules (Adigham) scheme at Maharishi Dayanand University in Rohtak, Haryana. 

The Class 11 students will be provided with the tablets after clearing the Class 10 board exams and qualifying for the succeeding year. These devices will be equipped with pre-loaded content along with personalised and adaptive learning software, and 2GB of free data.

MHA launches 'CAPF Punarvaas' to facilitate retired CAPF

Ministry of Home Affairs has launched ‘CAPF Punarvaas’ through Welfare & Rehabilitation Board (WARB) to facilitate retired Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and Assam Rifle personnel. This portal will help the retired personnel to find an appropriate job match by uploading their personal details on the WARB website.

MHA also runs a portal under Private Security Agencies Regulation Act (PSARA) for the registration of Private Security Agencies (PSAs).

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has launched the National Securities Depository Limited’s (NSDL) investor awareness programme for students named ‘Market Ka Eklavya’.

Aim: To introduce the basics of the securities market and also impart training on financial markets for students.

This is available in Hindi and other regional languages.

Every year, World Thalassemia day is observed on May 7th across the world. it aims to create awareness to honour the struggle of patients suffering from the disease.

It is observed on May 8 to spread awareness about thalassaemia being a blood disorder, myths related to the disease, and to help the patients lead a normal life. The day also deals with the social stigma attached to the lives of individuals who are suffering from and living with this disease. It also honours the efforts of doctors, scientists and medical staff for improving the lives of people suffering from this disease.

Thalassemia International Federation (TIF) designated the day of May 8 as International Thalassemia Day in 1994. the president and the founder of TIF, Panos Englezos proclaimed this day in the loving memory of his son George and the other thalassemia patients who fought this disease.

Priyanka Mohite (Satara in western Maharashtra) has become the first Indian woman to scale five peaks above 8,000 metres after her 5th climb Mount Kanchenjunga.

Priyanka received the Tenzing Norgay Adventure Award 2020. Mount Kanchenjunga (8,586 m) is the third highest mountain on the planet.

She had climbed world’s highest peak Mount Everest (8,849 m),  Mount Lhotse (8,516 m) in 2018, Mount Makalu (8,485 m), Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895 m) in 2016, Mt Annapurna (8,091 m).

Reliance crosses USD 100 billion annual revenue

Reliance Industries become the first Indian company to record annual revenue of more than a whopping $100 billion.

The company has recorded a 22.5% rise in net profit for the quarter ended March 2022. Reliance has recorded strong growth in retail, digital services, and the oil & gas business.

The company has also reported the highest-ever quarterly EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation) of ₹33,968 crores (28% up) year-on-year.

While sharing its Q4FY22 results, Adani Wilmar reported operational revenue of ₹54,214 crore in FY22 whereas HUL’s yearly revenue stands at ₹51,468 crore in FY2021-22.
