Avani Lekhara wins Gold at Chateauroux 2022 World Cup
Tokyo Paralympics gold medalist Avani Lekhara added another medal to her tally by winning gold at the R8- Women’s 50m 3P SH1 event during the ongoing Chateauroux Para Shooting World Cup 2022. She won the medal by achieving a score of 458.3. PM Modi Launches IN-SPACe Headquarters In Ahmedabad
PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the headquarters of the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) at Bopal, Ahmedabad.
The establishment of IN-SPACe was announced in June 2020. It is an autonomous and single window nodal agency in the Department of Space for the promotion, encouragement and regulation of space activities of both government and private entities. It also facilitates the usage of ISRO facilities by private entities.
UN adopts resolution on multilingualism, mentioning Hindi for the First Tim
The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has adopted an India-sponsored resolution on multilingualism that mentions the Hindi language for the first time.
The resolution passed yesterday urges the United Nations to continue spreading vital communications and messages in both official and non-official languages, including Hindi. The six official languages of the UN are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish.

Britain’s Queen becomes the world’s second-longest reigning monarch
As of Monday, she has been on the throne for 70 years and 127 days, second only to Louis XIV of France who became king at the age of four. She overtakes Thailand’s King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who died in 2016, having equalled his reign on Sunday. Last weekend, the 96-year-old’s Platinum Jubilee was marked with four days of celebrations across the UK. She had officially reached 70 years of rule on 6 February, with the extended bank holiday weekend chosen for the Jubilee events.
Crowned in 1953, Queen Elizabeth II became the longest-serving British monarch in September 2015, surpassing her great-great grandmother Queen Victoria. Now she has overtaken Thailand’s King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who reigned for 70 years and 126 days between 1927 and 2016, to set another record. Louis XIV of France remains the longest-reigning monarch, with a 72-year and 110-day reign from 1643 until 1715.
R Subramaniakumar appointed as MD & CEO of RBL Bank
R Subramaniakumar, a veteran banker with over four decades of experience, was on June 11 announced as the new managing director and chief executive officer of RBL Bank. The board of directors has confirmed his appointment as the MD and CEO of the bank for a “period of three years”, the private lender informed the stock exchanges. He was appointed the administrator of Dewan Housing Finance Co Ltd after the mortgage financier’s board was superseded.

Subramaniakumar’s appointment as the RBL Bank chief comes in the backdrop of the bank reporting a net loss of Rs 74.74 crore in FY2022, as against a profit of Rs 50.77 crore in FY2021. The RBL bank had also reportedly come under regulatory lens, with the RBI, in December 2021, appointing its chief general manager Yogesh K Dayal as an additional director of the private lender for two years.
Ather Energy partners SBI for customer retail finance
Ather Energy is partnering with SBI to provide financing options to interested buyers. The electric scooter maker plans to ease the process of purchase of EV two-wheeler for its buyers. Ather plans to use SBI’s massive reach in the country to provide wider financing options to its customers. As part of the association Ather Energy customers will get instant loans at interest rates as low as 9.55 percent per annum. Pre-approved loans will also be administered, depending on the buyer’s creditworthiness. SBI will offer the vehicle loans on their YONO mobile application as well as at their branch network, as the public sector lender ensures ease of adoption for the buyers.
With this collaboration, the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) aims to accelerate the growth of the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem in the country. The customers, depending on their profiles, will be eligible to avail loans up to 85 percent of the on-road prices of the electric two-wheelers. Customers can avail the loan through YONO at an EMI of as low as Rs 251 per Rs 10,000 under SBI Easy Ride loan. We believe SBI Easy Ride loan scheme will offer a seamless two-wheeler owning experience to our customers”.
Indian GM Praggnanandhaa wins title in Norway chess open
Young Indian Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa emerged winner in the Norway Chess Group A open chess tournament here with 7.5 points from nine rounds. The 16-year old GM, the top-seed, was in fine form and remained unbeaten through the nine rounds. He finished the tournament with a win over fellow Indian V Praneeth, an International Master, late on Friday.

Bangladesh-India bus services resume after two years
India and Bangladesh’s cross-border bus service resumed, two years after its suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The flagging off marked the opening of the bus services through the Akhaura-Agartala and Benapole-Haridaspur Integrated Check Posts (ICPs) between the two countries.
The bus services through the Dawki-Tamabil ICP will start after the necessary clearances are obtained between the two countries.

International Albinism Awareness Day 2022 observed on 13 June
International Albinism Awareness Day is marked every year on June 13 to raise awareness of albinism and to highlight the rights of people born with hereditary disorder. Albinism is a genetically inherited, rare, non-contagious disorder that propagates itself at birth. This condition causes a lack of pigmentation or melanin in the hair, skin, and eyes, making them vulnerable to sunlight and bright light. This day is mandated to remind people of the perils of the past and the path to the future in the case of albinism and the people living with it.
