India created history by qualifying for FIFAe Nations Cup 2022

India created history on Saturday as they qualify for the FIFAe Nations Cup 2022. This is the first time that India will play at the esports showpiece event, which is set to be held in Copenhagen, Denmark this year, from July 27 to July 30, 2022. India defeated Korea Republic and Malaysia in the FIFAe Nations Series 2022 Playoffs to seal their qualification for the showpiece event.

Representatives from the country will join other sports athletes from 23 other nations to compete at the highest level of FIFA 22 Esports from 26th to 30th July in Copenhagen, Denmark.

It is organized and conducted by EA Sports. FeNC is one of three major esports events that are held on a worldwide scale to crown the global champions of the game.

Union Minister releases National e-Governance Service Delivery Assessment

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Earth Sciences, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Minister of State of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Department of Atomic Energy and Department of Space, Dr Jitendra Singh will release the second edition of the National e-Governance Service Delivery Assessment 2021 on 13th June 2022. The NeSDA 2021 report has been prepared covering the assessment of States, UTs, and focus Central Ministries on their effectiveness in delivering online services to citizens. The report also provides suggestions for governments to further enhance their e-Governance service delivery systems.

It covers services across 7 sectors: Finance, Labour and Employment, Education, Local Governance and Utility Services, Social Welfare, Environment and Tourism sectors.

United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has adopted an India-sponsored resolution on multilingualism that mentions the Hindi language for the first time.

The resolution urges United Nations to continue spreading vital communications and messages in both official and non-official languages, including Hindi. For the first time, Hindi language is mentioned in the resolution besides Bangla and Urdu. Multilingualism is acknowledged as a basic principle of United Nation.

NHAI enters Guinness World Record for laying 75 km highway in 105 hours

National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has created Guinness World Record for the longest continuously laid bituminous lane of 75 kilometres in 105 hours and 33 minutes between Amravati and Akola districts in Maharashtra

Amravati-Akola section is part of NH 53, which connects cities like Kolkata, Raipur, Nagpur and Surat. It is equivalent to 37.5 kms of two-lane paved shoulder road. The construction work started on June 3 at 7:27 am and completed at June 7 at 5 pm.

Indian weightlifter Saanapathi Gurunaidu has clinched Gold medal in men’s 55 kilogram event at IWF Youth World Championships in Mexico.

He lifted a total of 230-kilogram, 104 kilogram in Snatch winning Silver and 126 kilogram lifting in Clean and Jerk to finish on the top to grab the Gold medal. Apart from him, Vijay Prajapati and Akansha Kishor Vyavhare clinched silver medals on the opening day  Akanksha won the medal in Women’s 40 kilogram category.

Defence Minister enhanced funding limit of TDF Scheme to Rs 50 crore

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has approved enhancement of funding under Technology Development Fund (TDF) scheme to Rs 50 crores per project from Rs 10 crores.

TDF scheme is executed by Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and supports indigenous development of components, products, systems and technologies by MSMEs and start-ups. It facilitates up to 90% of the total project cost and allows industry to work in consortium with another industry/academia.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) today (Monday 13 June) announced that Sri Lankan batting star Angelo Mathews and Pakistan’s spin sensation Tuba Hasan have been selected as the ICC Men’s and Women’s Players for May 2022. Mathews has surpassed compatriot Asitha Fernando and Bangladeshi Mushfiqur Rahim to win the award, while Tuba Hasan has surpassed his captain Bismah Maroof and Trinity Smith of the jersey. Why this award is given to Angelo Mathews?

Mathews was selected the stand-out male player after piling on runs over the course of his side’s impressive ICC World Test Championship series victory against Bangladesh. Mathews becomes the first Sri Lankan player to be named the Player of the Month since its inception in January 2021, scooping the award ahead of fellow nominees Asitha Fernando (Sri Lanka), and Mushfiqur Rahim (Bangladesh).

Why this award is given to Tuba Hassan?

On the other hand, Hassan was awarded the to honour after enjoying significant success with the ball during her debut international series. Pakistan’s Tuba Hasan had significant success with the ball during her first international series. Because of this, she was nominated for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month. The 21-year-old leg-spinner took five wickets against Sri Lanka in the three-match T20I series in Pakistan, where she captured the Player of the Series award, taking five wickets at an average of 8.8 and an economy rate of 3.66. In securing this month’s award, Hassan overcomes fellow nominees in compatriot Bismah Maroof, and Jersey’s Trinity Smith. Tuba is the first female player from Pakistan to win in the award.

NCPCR’s Elimination of Child Labour Week: 12-20 June 2022: National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) is celebrating Elimination of Child Labour Week in the honour of World Day Against Child Labour. It is being celebrated in 75 places as part of the “75th anniversary celebrations of India’s independence – “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” in different districts starting from 12th June to 20th June, 2022 as a significance to pay attention to the problem of child labour and to find ways to eradicate it.

National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has been constituted by the Government of India, as a statutory body under section 3 of the Commissions for Protection of Child Rights (CPCR) Act, 2005 for dealing with the protection of child rights and related matters.
