Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri launches NIPUN for Promoting Upskilling of Nirman workers
An Innovative project called “National Initiative for Promoting Upskilling of Nirman workers (NIPUN) was launched on June 20, 2022 by Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri. NIPUN is an initiative of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs under its flagship scheme of the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission DAY-NULM to train over one lakh construction workers, through fresh skilling and upskilling programmes and provides them with work opportunities in foreign countries also.

NIPUN Project will enable the construction workers to seek better job opportunities, increase their wages and even pursue overseas placements – an indication of a new eco-system. The transformational impact of the National Urban Livelihoods Mission has definitively reduced the vulnerability of urban poor households by providing upskilling and employment opportunities to urban dwellers, especially the youth.
The NIPUN project implementation is divided into three parts, training through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) at construction sites, training through Fresh skilling by Plumbing and Infrastructure SSC, and International Placement through industries, builders, and contractors.
LIC India launches Dhan Sanchay life insurance plan
The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has launched Dhan Sanchay, a non-linked, non-participating, individual savings life insurance plan .
This plan offers financial assistance to the family in the event of the life assured’s untimely death within the policy’s term.
It also offers a guaranteed income stream from the date of maturity until the end of the payout period.

ONDC joins hands with NABARD to activate e-commerce in agri tech
Open Network for Digital Commerce has joined hands with National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) to activate e-commerce in the agriculture domain.
ONDC and NABARD have come together to host the NABARD-ONDC Grand Challenge to establish market linkages for the enabled players with market ready Farmers Producers Organisations.
Aim: To promote development of innovative solutions that are likely to aid adoption of e-commerce in the agriculture domain.
Ruchira Kamboj named as next Permanent Representative of India to the UN
India on Tuesday named Ruchira Kamboj, a career diplomat with expertise in multilateral organisations, as its next permanent representative to the United Nations in New York. She will succeed TS Tirumurti as the Indian ambassador to the United Nation. Ministry of External Affairs said, Ruchira Kamboj is expected to take up the assignment shortly.
During her career:
Kamboj, currently ambassador to Bhutan and an officer of the 1987 batch of the Indian Foreign Service, is expected to take up the assignment shortly, the external affairs ministry said. She began her diplomatic journey in Paris, France, where she was posted as the Third Secretary in the Indian Embassy to France from 1989-91 and learnt French there.
She has been Permanent Representative of India to UNESCO in Paris, Indian High Commissioner in South Africa, and Chief of Protocol in New Delhi. During 2011-14, she served as chief of protocol in the external affairs ministry, the first lady officer to hold this position responsible for outgoing visits by the president, vice president, Prime Minister and external affairs minister. In this capacity, she was involved in organising international summits in India. She has also served in Mauritius, Cape Town in South Africa as India’s Consul General, and at the Commonwealth Secretariat in London.
Shanan Dhaka secured 1st rank to the First Women’s NDA Batch
Shannain Dhaka has secured the first rank in the examination for admission to the country’s first woman NDA batch. Selected to lieutenant, Shannain Dhaka, inspired by Grandfather Subedar Chandrabhan Dhaka and father Nayak Subedar Vijay Kumar Dhaka, joined the army. Shannain Dhaka’s father Vijay Kumar told that she has been living in Chandigarh for five years. Being in the army, Shanan had studied in army schools from the beginning. Shannain Dhaka studied at Army School Roorkee for 4 years, in Jaipur for three years and at Army School in Chandimandir for five years. Shanan had enrolled for an undergraduate course at Delhi University last year.

‘Shabash Mithu’: A biopic on former Indian women’s cricket team captain Mithali Raj
Taapsee Pannu is coming back to entertain the audiences with her new film. The actress recently announced that her upcoming film, Shabaash Mithu, a biopic on Indian cricketer Mithali Raj, will make its debut in theatres on July 15. The trailer of the film has dropped on YouTube, June 20. Talking about Shabaash Mithu, the film will trace the journey of Mithali Raj of being an 8-year-old kid with a dream to becoming a cricketing legend. In the trailer, Taapsee Pannu perfectly fits into the role of Mithali Raj. Amit Trivedi has provided music for the film with lyrics by Swanand Kirkire, Kausar Munir and Raghav M. Kumar, and sound designed by Academy Award winner Rasool Pookutty.

TCS, HDFC Bank, Infosys and LIC have been featured in the top 100 global biggest brands, along with companies like Apple, Google, Amazon and Microsoft.
TCS has been placed on the 46th spot of the list with an estimated of $50 billion by Kantar Brands 2022. HDFC Bank placed on 61st with $35 billion brand value. Infosys was ranked at 64th position and LIC placed on 92nd.

Australia provides financial support of USD 50 million to Sri Lanka
Australia has announced to provide 50 million US dollars support to Sri Lanka for meet urgent food and health care needs.
Presently, Sri Lanka is facing its worst economic crisis in 70 years, which leads to food shortage, medicine and fuel.
Australia will provide 22 million dollars to the World Food Programme (WFP) for emergency food assistance to meet their daily nutritional needs and 23 million dollars in development assistance to Sri Lanka in 2022-23.
Sunil Chhetri becomes joint 5th highest goalscorer
Indian men’s football team captain Sunil Chhetri became the joint fifth highest goalscorer in international football history. Sunil Chhetri scored his 84th International goal against Hong Kong during the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup 2023 Qualifiers and equalled the record of Real Madrid and Hungarian Football Legend Ferenc Puskás.
Chhetri achieved this feat during their AFC Asian Cup Qualifier clash against Hong Kong on Tuesday, where he scored his 84th goal. He has now equalled legendary Real Madrid and Hungarian player Ferenc Puskas goals scoring exploits on the international level. Sunil Chhetri is the 3rd highest goal scorer in international football among active players, after Cristiano Ronaldo with 117 goals and Lionel Messi with 86 goals. He is also the highest active goal scorer from Asia and India.

MoHUA launches NIPUN Project for promotion of upskilling Nirman Workers
Minister of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Hardeep Singh Puri has launched an initiative for skill training of construction workers called ‘NIPUN’.
NIPUN refers National Initiative for Promoting Upskilling of Nirman workers.
MoHUA has launched this initiative under its flagship scheme of the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM).
Aim: To train over 1 lakh construction workers, through fresh skilling and upskilling programmes.
Apollo Hospitals joins hands with Imperial Hospital of Bangladesh
Apollo Hospitals has signed an agreement with Imperial Hospital Ltd to operate and manage the latter’s 375 bedded multi-specialty tertiary care hospital in Chittagong, Bangladesh.
The state-of-the-art facility in Chittagong was built with the support of World Bank and will be rebranded as Apollo Imperial Hospital.
The hospital will have experienced clinicians, medical staff and administrative staff. Apollo will also manage daily operations, clinical service delivery.
