Followed by Ranvir Singh ($158.3 million), Akshay Kumar came down to the third position ($139.6 million). Alia Bhatt ranked four (68.1 million dollars).

Every year on the 1st April Utkal Divas or Odisha Foundation Day is celebrated by the people of Odisha. A special program is organized on this day. People from all over the country and abroad come to Odisha to enjoy this day. This day is also very famous globally. The state was originally called Orissa but the Lok Sabha passed the Orissa Bill, and Constitution Bill (113rd amendment), in March 2011 to rename it Odisha.

The History behind Odisha Day

History beckons that the present-day Odisha used to form a major portion of the ancient Kalinga. The region witnessed the epic “Kalinga War” led by King Ashoka who invaded and conquered the region in 260 BC. Later, the state was invaded and taken over by the Mughals till the British took over the administrative powers of the region and divided it into small units in 1803.

The western and northern districts became a part of the state of Bengal while the coastal region formed the basis of Bihar and Odisha (then known as Orissa). The state of Odisha was established on 1 April 1936 by the British Government. It was established as a province by the British Government on 1 April 1936. The state saw another facelift, now in terms of its name being changed from Orissa to Odisha.

Google Pay, Pine Labs tieup to offer ‘Tap to Pay’ for UPI users

Google Pay, in collaboration with Pine Labs, on March 30 announced the launch of Tap to Pay for UPI transactions, a feature that until now was only available for debit and credit cards.

The initiative has been launched in collaboration with Pine Labs.To complete a payment, All a user will need to do is tap their phone on the POS terminal and authenticate the payment from their phone, using the UPI PIN, making the process instantaneous, as compared to scanning a QR code, or entering the UPI-linked mobile number, the companies said in a joint statement.

The functionality will be available to any UPI user who wants to use their NFC-enabled Android smartphone to transact using any Pine Labs Android POS terminal across the country. This was piloted with Reliance Retail and will now be available at other large merchants such as Future Retail and Starbucks.

US provide grants of USD 152 million for Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh

The US has announced a financial grant of USD 152 million in new humanitarian assistance for Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh. The announcement was made after the visit of the US Ambassador to Bangladesh Peter Haas to Cox’s Bazar where the majority of the Rohingya refugees reside.

This financial assistance will be utilised for healthcare, protecting the environment, and providing secure food distribution for the Rohingya refugees.

Kerala Raj Subramaniam named as the new CEO of FedEx

Indian-American Raj Subramaniam has been named the new CEO of FedEx, the world’s largest courier service corporation. He is set to replace the founder of FedEx, Frederick W Smith. Currently, Subramaniam is serving as President and Chief Operating Officer of FedEx.

Subramaniam joined FedEx in 1991 and was elevated to the Board of Directors in 2020. Originally, he is from Trivandrum, Kerala and studied chemical engineering at IIT Bombay.

According to the census conducted in Kaziranga National Park, the population of rhinos increased by 200 in the last four years. Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve conducted the census.

The total number of rhinos increased to 2613. One-horned rhino is listed as the vulnerable on IUCN Red List.
