The history of Indian Coast Guard Day can be traced back to 1 February 1977, when the Parliament of India passed the Coast Guard Act, 1978. The organisation was created with the intention of running under the Ministry of Defense. On 19 August 1978, then-President Morarji Desai officially launched the organization with just seven ships.

Former Union law minister and eminent jurist Shanti Bhushan: Shanti Bhushan, a famous lawyer and former Union law minister, died at the age of 97. He served as the law minister in the Morarji Desai-led Janata Party government from 1977 to 1979, which came to power after Emergency. GST collection at nearly Rs 1.56 lakh crore in January: Nirmala Sitharaman, the finance minister, claims that the Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection increased significantly in January 2023, hitting more than Rs 1.55 lakh crore. This represents the second-highest mop-up for the GST collection in history and shows that the economy of the country is growing. The GST collection for January 2023 has reached over the ₹1.50 lakh crore mark for the third time this financial year, and is only second to the highest collection of ₹1.68 lakh crore in April 2022. The revenues for the current financial year up to January 2023 are 24% higher than the GST revenues during the same period last year.

At the International Diplomatic Alliance meet in Delhi CM Jagan urged investors to ‘visit Visakhapatnam and see how easy it is do to business in the state of Andhra Pradesh‘.
In March last year, the Andhra Pradesh High Court had ruled against the proposal to establish three capitals in the state and directed the YSRC government to develop Amaravati as the state capital as envisaged. The Court had also in its verdict on March 3, 2022 said the state Legislature lacked competence to make any legislation for shifting, bifurcating or trifurcating the capital.
The state government has filed a petition in the Supreme Court, challenging the High Court order.
A Rich History of Visakhapatnam:
- According to Vizag port website, the city, which is home to the headquarters of Eastern Naval Command had trade relations with the Middle East and Rome during ancient times and in 1682 it became a settlement of a branch of East India Company.
- On December 19, 1933, Lord Willingdon, the Indian Viceroy and Governor General at the time, officially opened the Visakhapatnam Port.
- The city shot into limelight after the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi laid foundation stone for a Steel Plant which was dedicated to the nation by former PM PV Narasimha Rao in 1992 after the facility started production.

Assam cabinet approves floriculture mission: The Assam Cabinet, headed by CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, approved a state floriculture mission with an initial investment of Rs 150 crore that covers 20,000 farmers.
Several other important decisions were taken at the cabinet meeting, including setting up of an additional CM secretariat at Dibrugarh, a new Raj Bhavan at Tezpur and converting employment exchanges into youth welfare offices, he said.
