Jeev Milkha Singh becomes the first golfer in the world to be granted Dubai Golden Visa
Star Indian golfer Jeev Milkha Singh has several firsts to his name for Indian and Asian golf. He now has a first in world golf too. Singh, the torchbearer of Indian golf, was recognized for his outstanding achievements and granted the prestigious 10-year Dubai Golden Visa — becoming the first professional golfer in the world to be bestowed with the honour.
During the 2001 Dubai Desert Classic, Jeev had established a world record at that time when he completed the four rounds with just 94 putts while finishing tied sixth. Jeev, the winner of four titles on the European Tour, four on the Japan Golf Tour, and six on the Asian Tour, has received the 10-year ‘Gold card’ for being an elite professional athlete.

Adobe appoints Prativa Mohapatra as India MD and VP
US tech giant Adobe has announced the appointment of Prativa Mohapatra as vice president and managing director for Adobe India. In this role, Mohapatra will lead Adobe’s India business across Adobe Experience Cloud, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Adobe Document Cloud, reporting to Simon Tate, Adobe’s president for the Asia Pacific (APAC).
Adobe said its strategy for unleashing creativity, accelerating document productivity, and powering digital businesses gives brands a competitive advantage, enabling them to engage customers across every digital touchpoint. With a track record built on innovation, category leadership, and rapidly expanding market opportunity, the firm said Adobe India is poised for continued growth.
Mohapatra’s career spans over 25 years in the technology industry. She joins Adobe from tech firm IBM, where she served as vice president of digital sales for APAC. Prior to that, she led sales for IBM India and South Asia where she was responsible for driving revenue for the company’s portfolio of solutions and services.

Hindi Diwas celebrated on 14 September
Hindi Diwas was celebrated on September 14 to spread awareness about the importance of the Hindi language in the country. History of Hindi Diwas:
- Later, Pt Jawaharlal Nehru announced this day to be celebrated as Hindi Diwas in the country.
- There are 22 Scheduled languages of India, of which, two are officially used at the Union government of India level: Hindi and English.
- Hindi is the fourth most spoken language in the world.
- Hindi Divas is celebrated on 14 September because, on this day in 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India had adopted Hindi written in Devanagari script as the official language of the Republic of India.
Aziz Akhannouch elected as new PM of Morocco
Aziz Akhannouch has been appointed as the new Prime Minister of Morocco by the country’s King Mohammed VI. A statement from the royal palace said the King tasked Akhannouch with forming a new government. The announcement came after Akhannouch’s National Rally of Independents (RNI) party triumphed in Wednesday’s parliamentary polls. The pro-business RNI managed to secure 102 out of the 395 seats in parliament, toppling the moderate Islamist Justice and Development Party (PJD), which won a paltry 13 seats. Justice Venugopal appointed as acting Chairperson of NCLAT
Justice M Venugopal has been appointed as the Acting Chairperson of the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT), as the key appellate tribunal continues to be without a permanent head now for more than one-and-a-half years. This is the third time in a row that an Acting Chairperson is at the helm of the NCLAT, which is handling several crucial appeals related to matters under the insolvency and competition laws, after the retirement of Chairperson Justice S J Mukhopadhaya on March 14, 2020.
Justice Bansi Lal Bhat was the first Acting Chairperson from March 15, 2020, followed by Justice A I S Cheema from April 19, 2021, and subsequently Justice M. Venugopal from September 11, 2021.
About the NCLAT:
- The NCLAT was constituted under Section 410 of the Companies Act, 2013 for hearing appeals against the orders of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT).
- It is also an appellate tribunal for hearing appeals against the orders passed by NCLT under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), and by the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI).
- It is also the appellate tribunal to hear and dispose of appeals against any direction issued or decision made or order passed by the Competition Commission of India (CCI).
Chhattisgarh Launches ‘Millet Mission’ To Become Millet Hub Of India
Raipur, 10 September 2021 / Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel has said that Chhattisgarh will become the millet hub of the country in the coming times. He said that under Millet Mission,an initiative has been taken to give the farmers right price for small cereal crops, provide input assistance, procurement arrangements, processing and ensure that the farmers get benefit of the expertise of experts. Like minor forest produce, we want to make small grain crops also the strength of Chhattisgarh.
In Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has announced the launch of ‘Millet Mission’, which aims to provide proper price rate to farmers for minor cereal crops.
The initiative is also a step towards the Chief Minister’s vision for the state becoming India’s millet hub. Other important benefits under the Millet Mission to farmers will include input assistance for millet, procurement arrangements, aid farmers in the processing of crops and ensure that the farmers get benefit of the expertise of experts.
To implement the mission, the state government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Millet Research (IIMR), Hyderabad and the collectors of 14 districts of the state.
Nuakhai, the harvest festival celebrated in Odisha
Nuakhai is the harvest festival of Western Odisha. ‘Nua’ means new, and ‘Khai’ means to eat. The occasion marks the consumption of the first harvested crops and falls on the Bhadraba Shuklapakhya Panchami tithi, which is the day following Ganesh Chaturthi. It is the most important festival in the region and is an official holiday in Odisha.
- Nuakhai Juhar, the agrarian festival of Western Odisha, was celebrated with religious fervour and tradition on September 11, 2021. It is celebrated 1 day after the celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi.
- Nuakhai is a crop festival celebrated by people of Western Odisha and Southern Chhattisgarh, to welcome the new rice of the season.

Daniil Medvedev wins 2021 US Open Tennis Title
Daniil Medvedev defeated Novak Djokovic in dominant fashion, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4, to win the men’s singles title at the 2021 US Open. With the win, Medvedev played spoiler to Djokovic’s bid to become the first man in 52 years to win all four majors — the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and US Open — in the same year, also known as the calendar-year Grand Slam. It is Medvedev’s first career Grand Slam singles title. This is the maiden Grand Slam title won by 25-year-old Medvedev.

National Forest Martyrs Day: 11 September

Veteran Congress leader and former Union minister Oscar Fernandes passes away at 80
Veteran Rajya Sabha MP and former Union minister Oscar Fernandes have passed away. He was 80. The senior Congress leader had served as the Union Cabinet Minister for Transport, Road and Highways, and Labour and Employment, in Manmohan Singh’s UPA government.
Veteran Congress leader and former Union Minister Oscar Fernandes MP died at a private hospital here on Monday afternoon, family sources said. He was 80 and is survived by his wife and two children.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed anguish over the death of the veteran Congress leader.
Haryana adjudged first in the installation of solar pumps under PM-KUSUM
Haryana has topped among all other states of the country in terms of installation of off-grid solar pumps under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthan Mahaabhiyaan (PM-KUSUM), as per the data by the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. Haryana has installed 14,418 pumps against 15,000 sanctioned pumps for the year 2020-21. The centrally-sponsored PM-KUSUM scheme was launched in 2019 with a target to install 20 lakh standalone solar pumps. Haryana was given a target of 15,000 pumps for the year 2020-21 with a total cost of Rs 520 crore.
This announcement was made by the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy in the concluding session of the weeklong nationwide “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” celebrations held on August 27.
Hyderabad-based Skyroot Aerospace becomes first Spacetech startup to formally tie-up with ISRO
Skyroot Aerospace, a Hyderabad-based Space technology startup, has become the first private company to formally enter into an agreement with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to get access their facilities and expertise for the development and testing of subsystems and systems of space launch vehicles. Skyroot Aerospace is building the Vikram series of rockets to carry small satellites into space. The first launch vehicle in the series, Vikram-1 is scheduled to be launch in 2022. Skyroot, founded by former ISRO scientists, is building the Vikram series of rockets to carry small satellites into space. The startup has already test-fired its solid propulsion rocket engine named Kalam-5, whose bigger version will power its rockets. The agreement will enable Skyroot to undertake multiple tests and access facilities at various ISRO centers and get all help in building the launch vehicle.
Cristiano Ronaldo honored by Guinness World Records for Becoming Highest Goal Scoring Man in International Football
Five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo broke the international goalscoring record in men’s football on Wednesday night when he hit a brace against the Republic of Ireland. Ronaldo has now scored 111 goals in international football, thereby breaking Ali Daei’s record of 109 goals. As a result of this historic feat, he has now received a Guinness World Record certificate.
- The Portuguese football player, Cristiano Ronaldo, has been honoured by Guinness World Records for his achievement of becoming the highest goalscorer in the men’s international football history.
- The Portugal captain scored the record breaking goal while playing against the Republic of Ireland in a World Cup qualifier, on September 01, 2021.
India and US launch the Climate Action and Finance Mobilization Dialogue
India and the United States of America (USA) have launched the “Climate Action and Finance Mobilization Dialogue (CAFMD)”. The CAFMD is one of the two tracks of the India-U.S. Climate and Clean Energy Agenda 2030 partnership launched at the Leaders’ Summit on Climate in April 2021, by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and US President Mr. Joseph Biden.
About the CAFMD:
- “Climate Action and Finance Mobilization Dialogue (CAFMD)” is one of the two tracks of the India-U.S. Climate and Clean Energy Agenda 2030 partnership launched at the Leaders’ Summit on Climate in April 2021. The other track is Strategic Clean Energy Partnership.
- CAFMD will demonstrate how the world can align swift climate action with inclusive and resilient economic development, taking into account national circumstances and sustainable development priorities.
MS Dhoni to mentor Indian team for the T20 World Cup
BCCI announced that the former India captain MS Dhoni will mentor the team for the tournament, which will be played in UAE and Oman in October and November. MS Dhoni, who had brought about a revolution in Indian cricket, as he led a young team to the title in the maiden ICC T20 World Cup in 2007, announced his retirement on 15, August 2020.
Dhoni had last played for India in the 2019 ICC World Cup semi-final against New Zealand. Dhoni, who leads Chennai Super Kings, is a three-time IPL-winning captain and has brought home three major ICC trophies — World T20, Champions Trophy and World Cup.
