India’s first pure green hydrogen plant commissioned in Jorhat, Assam
Oil India Limited (OIL) has taken the first significant step towards Green Hydrogen Economy in India with the commissioning of India’s First 99.999% pure Green Hydrogen pilot plant, with an installed capacity of 10 kg per day at its Jorhat Pump Station in Assam. The plant was commissioned in a record time of 3 months.
The plant produces Green Hydrogen from the electricity generated by 500kW Solar plant using a 100 kW Anion Exchange Membrane (AEM) Electrolyser array. The AEM technology is being used for the first time in India.
Sixth & Final Scorpene-class Submarine ‘VAGSHEER’ inaugurated at Mazagon Dock Limited
Yard 11880, the sixth and last submarine of the Indian Navy’s Kalvari class submarines of Project 75 has been launched at the Kanhoji Angre Wet Basin of Mazagon Dock Limited (MDL). Dr Ajay Kumar, Defence Secretary was the Chief Guest at the ceremony and the submarine named ‘Vagsheer’ was launched by Mrs Veena Ajay Kumar, in keeping with Naval traditions of launch/ naming by a lady.
The submarine will now undergo rigorous harbour trials and sea trials, before being commissioned in the Indian Navy. These submarines are designed by French naval defence and energy company ‘DCNS’ while Mazagon Dock Limited, Mumbai has manufactured them.
IAF successfully test-fires BrahMos missile from Su30-MkI fighter jet
The Indian Air Force(IAF) has successfully conducted a test-fire of the live firing of BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from a Su30- MKI fighter aircraft.
The missile hit a decommissioned Indian Navy ship under close coordination with the Indian Navy. The BrahMos can be fired from submarines, ships, fighter jets and land.
In 2016, the government decided to integrate the Brahmos into over 40 Sukhoi fighter jets.

Trishakti Corps of Indian Army conducts EX KRIPAN SHAKTI in Siliguri
The Trishakti Corps conducted EX KRIPAN SHAKTI, an Integrated Fire Power exercise at Teesta Field Firing Ranges (TFFR) near Siliguri in West Bengal on April 19, 2022. The exercise was aimed at orchestrating and synergizing the capabilities of the Indian Army and the Central Armed Police Forces to fight an integrated battle.
The Indian Army, Border Security Force (BSF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and the civil administration participated in the exercise.
Trishakti Corps, also known as XXXIII Corps, is a division of Indian Army headquartered at Sukna near Siliguri. BSF manages the border with Bangladesh. SSB is in charge of affairs along India’s border with Nepal and Bhutan.
Nagpur gets India’s first radio channel for visually-impaired ‘Radio Aksh’
Country’s first-ever radio channel for the visually impaired, named ‘Radio Aksh’ has been launched in Nagpur, with the Blind Relief Association Nagpur and Samdrushti Kshamata Vikas Avam Anusandhan Mandal (Saksham) serving as the pioneers of the concept that will help the visually-impaired gain seamless access to education resources and audiobooks.
Unlike FM and AM, this radio channel has been launched on Internet Radio technology, which has no geographical limits. All the Contents are pre-recorded.
This digital platforms will enable access to vast bank of information from anywhere, to the visually impaired through their digital devices. This concept of internet radio has been initiated by the Blind Relief Association Nagpur and Samdrushti Kshamata Vikas Avam Anusandhan Mandal (Saksham).
India’s Non-basmati rice exports grow by 109% since 2013-14
Export of India’s non-basmati rice has witnessed tremendous growth of 109% from USD 2925 million in FY 2013-14 to USD 6115 million in FY 2021-22.
Export of non-basmati rice has registered a growth of 27% in 2021-22. West African country, Benin is one of the major importers of non-basmati rice from India.
As per Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics (DGCIS) data, India exported rice to over 150 countries across the globe in 2021-22.
RBI caps lending limits of NBFCs
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has tightened the rules for non-banking finance companies (NBFCs) relating to their large exposures.
The exposure of NBFCs for the Upper layer: Exposure must not exceed 20% of its capital base at all times, Board can allow an additional 5%. NBFCs that are into infrastructure finance can have exposure of 25%, with an option of an additional 5% of Tier I capital to a single counterparty. Norms will come into effect from October 1, 2022.
Nexo and Mastercard tie up to launch ‘world first’ crypto-backed payment card
Crypto lender Nexo said it has teamed up with global payments company Mastercard to launch on Wednesday what it calls the world’s first “crypto-backed” payment card.
The card allows users to spend without having to sell their digital assets such as bitcoin. These will be used as collateral to back the credit granted. Initially the facility has been launched in selected European countries. The electronic money firm DiPocket will be the card issuer.

Young Indian Grandmaster D Gukesh emerged victorious in the 48th La Roda International Open Chess tournament here, scoring eight points from nine rounds.
Gukesh defeated Israel’s Victor Mikhalevski in the ninth and final round to finish at the top with eight points. Armenia’s Haik Martirosyan finished runner-up with 7.5 points, while R. Praggnanandhaa secured 7 points to acquire third spot.
National Civil Services Day 2022: 21 April
In India, the ‘Civil Services Day’ is observed on April 21 every year as a thanks giving day to all the Civil Servants for their service to the society and also for Civil Servants to ‘rededicate themselves to the cause of citizen and renew their commitments to public service’.
The day is celebrated to commemorate the efforts of civil servants across departments and those who work relentlessly to keep the administrative machinery functioning smoothly. The day April 21 has been chosen to commemorate the day when the first Home Minister of Independent India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel addressed the probationers of Administrative Services Officers in 1947 at Metcalf House, Delhi. In his address, he called Civil Servants, the ‘Steel Frame of India’.
World Creativity and Innovation Day 2022: 21 April

Jasleen Kohli appointed as MD and CEO of Digit Insurance

Chhindwara oranges will be recognised as Satpura
Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara district oranges will be called Satpuda orange under the one district one produce scheme of the government.
The authorities have also created a QR code for the fruit which reveal all the information about the variety.
Chhindwara oranges have a thin cover and are sweet and juicy. With these distinct qualities, cultivators can directly sell fruit to multi-national companies.
Shanti Sethi appointed Kamala Harris’s defence advisor
Indian-American Navy veteran Shanti Sethi has been appointed as USA Vice President Kamala Harris’s Defence Adviser.
Shanti Sethi is the first Indian-American commander of a major US Navy combat ship. Shanti Sethi commanded the guided-missile destroyer, USS Decatur, from December 2010 to May 2012. She joined the Navy in 1993.
Recently, US Senate has confirmed the appointment of Ketanji Brown Jackson(the first Black woman) to Supreme Court Judge.
