Imprisoned Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny has been awarded the European Union’s highest award for human rights-Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought. It European Union’s top human rights prize.
In awarding the Sakharov Prize to Mr. Navalny, the European Parliament praised his “immense personal bravery.”
The 45-year-old activist was poisoned with a nerve agent last year and promptly arrested upon his return to Moscow from treatment in Germany and later imprisoned.
The renowned film director, producer, and writer, Imtiaz Ali was appointed as the ambassador of the Russian Film Festival in India.
The first-ever online Russian Film Festival in India is organized by ROSKINO, a Russian film promotion body, from October 16 to November 27, 2021.
As part of the festival, ten notable Russian films of various genres will be premiered for Indian audiences on Disney+ Hotstar.

On 19 October 2021; European commercial drone and software developer FIXAR announced its tie-up with Paras Aerospace, a subsidiary of Paras Defence. This partnership between the two has emerged for the initiation of the Drone (UAV) market in India.

The Reserve Bank of India has imposed a penalty of 1 crore on Paytm Payments Bank for violating provisions of Payment and Settlement Systems Act 2007 and ₹27.78 lakh on Western Union Financial Services for non-compliance with certain directions.
The central bank noted that Paytm payments bank’s application seeking the issue of the final certificate of authorization did not reflect its factual position.
This is related to an offense committed of the nature referred to in Section 26 (2) of the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007.
