Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurates ‘Nikarshan Sadan’ Dredging Museum in Visakhapatnam
Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways and AYUSH Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday inaugurated Nikarshan Sadan” – The DCI (Dredging Corporation of India) Dredging Museum at DCI campus in Visakhapatnam.
The museum displayed models of different types of dredgers, vintage photos and historical milestones of this dredging behemoth from the Eastern Port City of Vizag. DCI is celebrating 45 years of rendering dedicated dredging services to the Nation in 2022.
Shri Sarbananda Sonowal also inaugurated Centre of Excellence in Maritime and Shipbuilding (CEMS) in Vishakhapatnam. CEMA is a skill development facility to provide opportunities for the youth to enhance their skills thereby improving employability and be industry-ready.
Rafael Nadal wins Mexican Open 2022 to clinch his 91st ATP title
Rafael Nadal said earlier in the week that he wasn’t aware of his career statistics. Now, he might want to have a look at them. The 35-year-old Spaniard defeated Cameron Norris 6-4, 6-4 on Saturday to win the Mexican Open and extend his career-best start for a season to 15-0 as he won his 91st ATP title.
This is the fourth time that Rafael Nadal has won the Mexican Open title, after winning the previous ones in 2005, 2013 and 2020.Men’s double title winner are Feliciano Lopez (Spain) and Stefanos Tsitsipas (Greece).
Ministry of Education launches Bhasha Certifiate Selfie campaign
Ministry of Education launched a campaign ‘Bhasha Certificate Selfie to encourage cultural diversity and promote mulitlinguism and to foster the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.
Bhasha Certificate Selfie initiative aims to promote Bhasha Sangam mobile app, developed by Ministry of Education and MyGov India. Using the app, people can learn 100+ sentences of daily use in as many as 22 scheduled Indian languages. The initiative, under the aegis of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat will aim to ensure that people acquire basic conversational skills in Indian languages. To achieve this, a target of 75 lakh people acquiring basic conversational skills has been set.
Bhasha Sangam mobile app was launched on October 31, 2021, by Minister of Education and Skill Development Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, to lay emphasis on the promotion of Indian languages. The ‘Bhasha Certificate Selfie’ initiative is encouraging people to upload their selfie with the certificate using the hashtag #BhashaCertificateSelfie.
Kochi Airport to become power-positive with new solar plant from March 6
The Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL), the world’s first airport fully powered by solar energy, is to become power-positive with the commissioning of its new solar power plant near Payyannur in Kannur district of Kerala.
Chief Minister of the State Pinarayi Vijayan would inaugurate the 12 MWp solar power plant on March 6, Managing Director of CIAL S Suhas. With the commissioning of the new solar power plant, CIAL will get the status as power positive airport, from its current status of being a power-neutral airport.
In 2015, CIAL became the world’s first airport to be fully powered by solar energy.
India secures 8 medals at Singapore Weightlifting International 2022
Indian weightlifters Vikas Thakur and Venkat Rahul Ragala qualified for the Commonwealth Games by winning gold and bronze medals respectively in the men’s 96kg category at the Singapore Weightlifting International here on Sunday. India thus ended its campaign in the competition with eight medals, including six gold, one silver and one bronze.
Each of the eight Indian lifters who registered for the Singapore International won medals and secured their spots at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, scheduled to be held in July-August. India now have total 12 weightlifters qualified for the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham.
India’s Sadia Tariq wins Gold in Wushu Stars Championship in Russia
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday congratulated Sadia Tariq on winning a gold medal in the Moscow Wushu Stars Championship, which is being held from February 22 to 28. Sadia won the gold medal in Wushu Championship in Moscow by defeating a local player. The 15-year-old Sadia Tariq hails from Srinagar in Jammu & Kashmir. From India, 38 players, including 23 junior and 15 senior participated in the championship.
India launches mission named Operation Ganga to evacuate Indian nationals from Ukraine
IndiGo is set to join Operation Ganga to evacuate stranded Indian nationals in Ukraine due to the Russia-Ukraine tension. The airline will be flying on the Delhi-Istanbul-Budapest route. The first IndiGo flight has taken off for Istanbul.
Due to the ongoing tension between Ukraine and Russia, Ukraine has been declared as a no-fly zone by the authorities for the safety and security of the nations. Due to this many Indian nationals were left stranded in Ukraine. To help the Indian citizens come back to the country, the government of India decided to conduct a special evacuation mission named Operation Ganga. The government will bring back Indian nationals via flight.

The seminar has been organised by the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals under Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, in association with Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET) and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
