President Ram Nath Kovind presents President’s Colour to INS Valsura in Gujarat

President Ram Nath Kovind on March 25, 2022 awarded the prestigious President’s Colour to Indian Naval Ship (INS) Valsura in Jamnagar, Gujarat. The President’s Colour is bestowed on a military unit in recognition of exceptional service rendered to the nation, both in peace and in war.

The ‘Nishan Adhikari’  Lt Arun Singh Sambyal received the President’s Colour on behalf of the unit, for its 80 years of exceptional service. INS Valsura is a premier training facility of the Indian Navy established on December 05, 1942, in Jamnagar of Gujarat, to provide training in the domain of Torpedo handling (Underwater missile) and operations.

The grand daughter of Mahatma Gandhi Sumitra Gandhi Kulkarni inaugurated the Modi Story website which is a collection of stories from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s life. Modi story is a volunteer-driven initiative to bring together inspiring moments from Narendra Modi’s life, as narrated by his co-travellers.

The portal can be accessed at modistory.in. Any person who have closely witnessed the Prime Minister’s life can submit write-ups, audio or visual stories of any such experience or anecdote along with photos with PM Modi, letters or personal memorabilia associated with him. The website has several stories shared by the people who crossed paths with the Prime Minister at some point in his life.

‘Ishan Manthan’ Festival organised in New Delhi to showcase culture, crafts and cuisines of Northeast

Union Minister for Culture, Tourism & DONER Shri G Kishan Reddy inaugurated the three-day North-East festival called ‘Ishan Manthan’ atthe Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts today in New Delhi on March 25, 2022. Member Secretary of IGNCA Dr. Sachidanand Joshi, Voice Chancellor of JNU Prof. SantishreeDhulipudi Pandit and National convener of PrajnaPravah Shri J. Nandakumar also graced the event. 

The three-day Ishan Manthan programme will celebrate the rich ethnicity and colours of North East India, from March 25 to 27, 2022. The event will give an opportunity know about the culture, art, music, folk dances, handicrafts and traditional cuisines of Northeast India.

Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana extended for 6 months till September 2022

The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Saturday approved extension of ‘Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY)’ by six months till September 2022. Earlier the scheme was valid till March 2022.

The PMGKAY scheme was launched in March 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic so that the vulnerable households do not suffer due to the non-availability of adequate foodgrains. The government has spent approximately Rs 2.60 lakh crore so far on the scheme and another Rs 80,000 crore will be spent over the next six months till September 2022, taking the total expenditure under PMGKAY to nearly Rs 3.40 lakh crore.

The Union Minister for Culture, Tourism and DoNER Shri G. K Reddy and Andhra Pradesh Governor Shri Biswabhusan Harichandan inaugurated the 12th edition of the Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav (RSM) 2022 at the Government Art College grounds in Rajahmundry (officially known as Rajamahendravaram), Andhra Pradesh.

The mega Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav 2022 will place from 26, March to 03 April, 2022 in the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav is the flagship festival of the Ministry of Culture.

The Siliguri Corridor, which is a strategically important region, is a stretch of land bordering Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh. Dhaka is world’s most noise polluted city while Moradabad in India is second noisiest: UNEP Report

Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad, famously known as ‘brass city’, has become the second noisiest city globally. According to a report called ‘Annual Frontier Report 2022’ published by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the western UP city recorded the highest noise pollution last year, a distressing 114 decibels (dB). It comes right after Dhaka, which is at the top of the list with 119 dB. Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan is third, with maximum noise pollution of 105 dB.

Meanwhile, the quietest cities in the world as per the report are Irbrid at 60 dB, Lyon at 69 dB, Madrid at 69 dB, Stockholm at 70 dB, and Belgrade at 70 dB.

The renowned hydrologist Wilfried Brutsaert, also known as Mr Evaporation, has been awarded the Stockholm Water Prize 2022 for his groundbreaking work to quantify environmental evaporation, helping to make accurate predictions of the impact that climate change has on local rainfall patterns and water sources.

Wilfried Brutsaert is Professor in Engineering Emeritus at Cornell University, USA. The Stockholm Water Prize is the world’s most prestigious water award and is often described as the Nobel Prize of water.

World Theatre Day is celebrated annually on March 27 since 1962 to promote the art form “theatre” across the world, promoted by the International Theatre Institute (ITI) through its centres, and supported by theatre communities all over the world. The theme of 2022 World Theatre Day is ‘Theatre and a Culture of Peace’.

The day was initiated in 1961 by the International Theatre Institute (ITI). Every year the Executive Council of ITI choses an outstanding theatre personality to write the message for World Theatre Day. The author of the Message of World Theatre Day 2022 is: Peter Sellars, United States.
