Indian Railways launches Bharat Gaurav theme-based circuit trains to boost tourism

Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the introduction of ‘Bharat Gaurav Trains’, the theme-based tourist circuit trains to boost tourism in India. These trains will showcase India’s rich cultural heritage and historical places to the people of India and the world.

The Bharat Gaurav tourists’ trains can be run by any entity including a government enterprise or a private players. The service providers will be free to decide the theme of the train circuit and rates to be charged. More than 180 trains for ‘Bharat Gaurav’ trains & 3033 coaches have been identified for Bharat Gaurav Trains.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh launches World’s First Multimodal Brain Imaging Data and Analytics ‘SWADESH’

SWADESH was inaugurated by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Science and Technology on 19th November 2021. The project SWADESH is a first of its kind large-scale multimodal neuroimaging database designed specifically for Indian population.

The unique brain initiative has been developed by the DBT-National Brain Research Centre (DBT-NBRC), Gurgaon, Haryana. DBT-NBRC has developed several clinical research tools through SWADESH. GAURI system uses adaptive pattern recognition and learning schemes for predictive single or differential diagnosis, designed with MRI modalities and neuropsychological batteries. NINS-STAT is a high-performance state-of-the-art automated statistical test selection and execution software package with high applicability in clinical research.

SWADESH brings big-data architecture and analytics for various neurological disease under one platform. It will enable the researchers in conducting multimodal brain studies to understand and manage Alzheimer’s disease and several neurological disorders. DBT-NBRC is the only institute in India dedicated to Neuroscience Research and Education.

India and Germany launches WISER program for lateral entry for women researchers in joint R&D projects

The programme called Women’s Involvement in Science and Engineering Research (WISER) program was launched by Indo-German Science & Technology Centre (IGSTC) for encouraging women researchers in joint R&D projects. WISER will encourage women researchers in joint R&D projects.

IGSTC is a joint initiative of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), Government of Germany.

The 20th Meeting of SCO Council of Heads of Government (CHG) will be held on 25 November 2021 in Nur-Sultan in virtual format under the Chairmanship of Kazakhstan. The meeting was held in Nur-Sultan in virtual format under the chairmanship of Kazakhstan. The SCO-CHG meeting is held annually to deliberate on a range of pressing regional issues with focuse on the trade and economic agenda of the bloc and to approve its annual budget.

The meeting was attended by the heads of government of the SCO member states, observer states and secretary-general of the SCO. The executive director of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS), Turkmenistan and other invited guests are also expected to attend the meeting.

Collins Dictionary names ‘NFT’ as the Word of the Year 2021

Collins Dictionary announced that its Word of the Year is “NFT” — digital assets that exploded in popularity this year along with the rise of cryptocurrencies. NFT is the acronym for “non-fungible token.

As per Collins Dictionary, NFT is defined as “a unique digital certificate, registered in a blockchain, that is used to record the ownership of an asset such as an artwork or a collectible.” Collins English Dictionary is published by HarperCollins in Glasgow.

Kuwait reappoints Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah as Prime Minister

Kuwait’s Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah al-Khalid has been reappointed prime minister, state media said on Tuesday and tasked with forming a cabinet that would be the Gulf OPEC oil producer’s third this year in a domestic political standoff.

State news agency KUNA said Sheikh Sabah, prime minister since late 2019, was reappointed by an emiri order issued by Crown Prince Sheikh Meshal al-Ahmad al-Sabah. The government had resigned on Nov. 8 in the standoff with the elected parliament.

Prior to that he has served in various capacities like Foreign Minister and first Deputy Prime Minister etc. He was also associated with the permanent Kuwaiti mission at the UN from 1983 to 1989.

Sweden’s first woman PM Magdalena Andersson steps down within hours of being elected

Sweden’s first ever female prime minister has resigned just hours after she was appointed. Magdalena Andersson was announced as leader on November 24, 2021 but resigned after her coalition partner quit the government and her budget failed to pass.

Andersson was forced to resign after she presented her government’s budget in the Parliament and the Swedish parliament voted in favour of the budget presented by the opposition.

National Organ Donation Day: 27 November

For the last ten years, the 27th of November has been designated as ‘National Organ Donation Day in India. This day strives to encourage people to donate their healthy organs after death in order to save more lives. Donating organs like the kidneys, heart, pancreas, eyes, lungs, etc can help save the lives of those who are suffering from chronic illnesses. 

The day aims to promote awareness and recognize the selfless contribution made by deceased donors to healthcare and mankind re-instill our faith in humanity. 2021 marks the 12th National Organ Donation Day.

It is organized by the National Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
