Zen Garden and Kaizen Academy inaugurated in Ahmedabad

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Zen Garden and Kaizen Academy at Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA) at Ahmedabad.

PM Modi took to his official social media handles (Twitter, Instagram and Facebook) and shared pictures of the recently inaugurated Zen Garden in Ahmedabad.

PM implemented Kaizen in Gujarat administration and the same was introduced in administrative training in Gujarat in 2004. In 2005, a special training camp was organised for the top civil servants.

PM brought Kaizen related experiences and learning of Gujarat to PMO and other central government departments. Kaizen has also been used in many other departments, institutions and central government schemes.

This will not only enrich the quality of crops sown by them but also enable them to procure seed of superior quality at a lesser cost which, will in turn raise the margin of their profit in the market.

Kerala Swimmer Sajan Prakash qualify for the Tokyo Olympics

India’s Sajan Prakash became the first swimmer from the country to qualify for the Tokyo Olympic Games after his outstanding performance in the ongoing Sette Colli Trophy.

Sajan Prakash is an Indian swimmer who specializes in freestyle, butterfly and medley events.

At the 2015 National Games in Kerala, he set a record on 8 February 2015 by winning 6 gold and 3 Silver medals, and became the best athlete of the Indian National Games, held at Trivandrum, Kerala.

With this time he qualified for the 200 m butterfly event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. As of June 2021, he is the holder of 11 Indian national swimming records in events spanning freestyle, butterfly, medley and relay categories.

World Bank approved USD 125 Million support program for Kerala

The World Bank approved USD 125 million assistance for Rebuild Kerala Initiative (RKI) in meeting of directors of the Bank held in Washington.

The loan will be under the Programme-for-Results financing scheme, which means the amount will be sanctioned for specific development projects approved by independent evaluators.

First, it will incorporate disaster risk planning in the master plans of urban and local self-governments to ease financial constraints on the state government when faced with unexpected shocks.

Second, it will help make the health, water resources management, agriculture, and road sectors more resilient to calamities.

Jharkhand SCA is to establish an International Cricket stadium in Bokaro

Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) signed a lease agreement with SAIL Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) for the construction of Jharkhand’s third International Cricket Stadium in Bokaro.

Bokaro will become third city in Jharkhand after Jamshedpur and Ranchi to feature in International cricket map once the stadium is ready.

The proposed stadium will be built in Balidih area of Bokaro and will also be the first stadium to be constructed in SAIL township.

Honorary Secretary of JSCA Sanjay Sahay and Bokaro Steel Plant’s assistant manager SR Patra signed the lease agreement for land.

Amazon acquired encrypted messaging application “Wickr”, the Signal-like encrypted messaging services were primarily used by the government agencies in the United States.

Wickr is primarily designed for government agencies, military, enterprise and individuals.

The messaging app which was founded by Robert Statica, Kara Coppa, Christopher Howell, Nico Sell, York Sell in 2012, has apps based on different customer needs.

The app lets users exchange end-to-end encrypted and content-expiring messages, including photos, videos, and file attachments.

Wickr has several apps including Wickr Pro, Wickr RAM, and Wickr Enterprise, Wickr Me. WickrRAM was specifically designed keeping in the mind the military.

It is believed that the app stays secure even in the harshest environment whereas the Wickr Enterprise was created for companies with larger workforces.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister announced Rs 3 crore reward sportspersons who bag medals in the upcoming Tokyo Olympic Games.

Gagan Narang, a Chennai native who represented India in shooting and won a bronze in the 2012 London Olympics in the Men’s 10m Air Rifle event, is still the only individual medallist from the state.

A total of 102 Indian athletes across 14 sporting categories have so far qualified or been named in the final squad by their respective federations for the rescheduled Tokyo Olympics slated to begin on July 23.

Hockey India nominates Sreejesh and Deepika for Khel Ratna

India men’s goalkeeper PR Sreejesh and former women’s defender Deepika Thakur were named Hockey India’s nominations for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award.

PR Sreejesh had played a significant role in India’s Gold Medal win at the FIH Men’s Series Finals Bhubaneswar Odisha 2019.

He had also played a key part in India getting a silver at the Hockey Champions Trophy Breda 2018 and bronze at the 2018 Asian Games.

The Indian goalkeeper had received the prestigious Padma Shri Award in 2017. He had also received the Arjuna Award in 2015.

Deepika has also been a vital part of the Indian women’s hockey team, which had won silver at the 2018 Asian Games and at the Asian Champions Trophy 2018.

Among the Arjuna award nominees, Harmanpreet Singh has over 100 international caps and Vandana Katariya has over 200 international caps and Navjot Kaur has over 150 international caps.

All three players have been nominated for the Arjuna award for their sensational performances in Indian teams’ victories in the last few years.

Opener Shafali Verma became the youngest Indian cricketer to make debut across formats after being picked for the first ODI against England Women.

She took 17 years and 150 days to make her debut across format, making her the fifth youngest cricketer overall in the list, headed by Afghanistan’s Mujeeb Ur Rahman.

Rahman had made his all format debut at 17 years and 78 days, followed by England’s Sarah Taylor (17 years 86 days), Australia’s Ellyse Perry (17 years 104 days) and Pakistan’s Mohammad Amir (17 years 108 days).

Verma had scored 96 and 63 in her dream debut in the one-off Test against England which ended in a sensational draw last week. She was the youngest batter to score two fifties on debut in women’s Test.

Verma has scored 617 runs with three fifties in the 22 T20Is that she has played so far since making her debut in September 2019.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay on his 183rd birth anniversary.

Bankim Chandra Chatterjee or Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, CIE (27 June 1838 – 8 April 1894) was an Indian novelist, poet and journalist.

He was the composer of Vande Mataram, originally in Sanskrit, personifying India as a mother goddess and inspiring activists during the Indian Independence Movement.

Chattopadhyay wrote fourteen novels and many serious, serio-comic, satirical, scientific and critical treatises in Bengali. He is known as Sahitya Samrat (Emperor of Literature) in Bengali.

Chattopadhyay is widely regarded as a key figure in literary renaissance of Bengal as well as the broader Indian subcontinent.

Some of his writings, including novels, essays, and commentaries, were a breakaway from traditional verse-oriented Indian writings, and provided an inspiration for authors across India.

India to become Aatmanirbhar in Phosphatic Fertilisers

Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers Mansukh Mandaviya chaired a meeting in order to improve the availability of phosphatic fertilisers (DAP and NPK) and to reduce the dependence on imports by making India truly Aatmnirbhar in fertilisers.

An Action Plan was chalked out for making India Aatmanirbhar in fertiliser production through indigenous resources.

Mandaviya directed to commercially exploit and ramp up the production in the existing 30 lakh MT of Phosphorite deposits which are available in Rajasthan, central part of peninsular India, Hirapur(MP) ,Lalitpur(UP) , Mussoorie syncline , Cuddapah basin(AP).

Rock Phosphate is the key raw material for DAP and NPK fertilisers and India is 90% dependent on imports.

Volatility in international prices affects domestic prices of fertilisers and hinders the progress and development of agriculture sector in the country.

APEDA facilitated exports of Burmese grapes ‘Leteku’ to Dubai

A shipment of fresh Burmese grapes referred as ‘Leteku’ in Assamese language has been exported to Dubai from Guwahati by air route, in a major boost to harness the export potential of agricultural and processed food products from north-eastern states

A consignment of Leteku, which contains vitamin C and Iron, was sourced and packed at a collection centre in Darang district of Assam.Consignment was exported by APEDA registered Kiega EXIM Pvt Ltd from Guwahati airport to Dubai via Delhi.

Recently, APEDA facilitated exports of the first consignment of ‘red rice’ to the USA from Assam. Iron rich ‘red rice’ is grown in Brahmaputra valley of Assam, without the use of any chemical fertilizer. The rice variety is referred to as ‘Bao-dhaan’, which is an integral part of Assamese food.

APEDA assisted in exports of Geographical Indications (GI) certified KajiNemu (Assam lemon) to London. So far around 40 metric tonnes of Assam Lemon has been exported.

DRDO successfully flight tests New Generation Agni P Ballistic Missile

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully flight tested a New Generation Nuclear Capable Ballistic Missile Agni P from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam island off the coast of Odisha, Balasore.

Agni P is a new generation advanced variant of Agni class of missiles. It is a canisterised missile with range capability between 1,000 and 2,000 kms.

Various telemetry and radar stations positioned along the eastern coast tracked and monitored the missile.

The missile followed text book trajectory, meeting all mission objectives with high level of accuracy.

POWERGRID provides support to District Administration Kargil under CSR

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) handed over one Vaccine Delivery van, twelve ice lined refrigerators and nine deep freezers to district administration of Kargil.

The items costing ₹29 lakhs have been handed over by POWERGRID under its CSR initiative. The vaccine delivery van shall benefit residents of far-flung areas of the UT and help in achieving greater vaccination drive.

POWERGRID is also supporting Ladakh region in rural electrification infrastructure in far flung villages under various schemes of Government of India like PMDP, DDUGJY.

Under these schemes, POWERGRID is electrifying 23 villages costing ₹57 crore in Kargil district. Further, under PMDP scheme 66 kV power line network will also be strengthened at a cost of about ₹30 crore.

National Statistics Day is celebrated on 29 June each year on the birth anniversary of late Professor Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis.

Often referred to as the ‘father of Indian statistics’, Mahalanobis, was born on June 29, 1893, in Calcutta (now Kolkata), West Bengal.

The theme of National Statistics Day 2021 is Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)-2: End Hunger, Achieve Food Security and Improved Nutrition and Promote Sustainable Agriculture.

The Government of India decided to celebrate National Statistics Day on the outstanding contribution made by Late Professor Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis in the field of economic planning and statistics and therefore National Statistics Day mark his birth anniversary.

Professor Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis or P.C. Mahalanobis was born on 29 June, 1893, Calcutta (now Kolkata), India.
