4th edition of India Boat & Marine Show (IBMS) concludes in Kochi
The fourth edition of India Boat and Marine Show (IBMS) has started on March 25 in Kochi, said the organisers of the Cruz expo. It will continue till March 27. IBMS is India’s only and most influential Boat and Marine industry related exhibition.
The event is organised by Kochi-based Cruz Expo. The IBMS 2022 showcased leading international brands as well as indigenous boat manufacturers from across the country. Around 45 exhibitors from all over India and two international exhibitors participated in the expo.
Australia beat England to win 2022 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup
Australia defeated England by 71 runs to win a record-extending seventh Women’s ODI World Cup title at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch, New Zealand.
Alyssa Healy of Australia scored 170 runs in the match, the highest individual score made by any cricketer, male or female, in the World Cup Final. She was also the leading run-scorer in the tournament with 509 runs.
Player of the Tournament went to Alyssa Healy. Sophie Ecclestone of England was the leading wicket-taker in the tournament, with 21 dismissals. The 2022 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup was the 12th edition of the Women’s Cricket World Cup. The tournament was held in New Zealand from 4 March to 3 April 2022.
India-Australia sign Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (IndAus ECTA)
India and Australia on Saturday signed an Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA) that seeks to almost double bilateral trade in the next five years to $45-50 billion from $27 billion now. India and Australia began the process for ‘IndAus ECTA’ from September 30, 2021.
The ECTA was signed by Indian Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, and Australian Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, Mr. Dan Teha. Prime Minister of India, Shri. Narendra Modi and the Prime Minister of Australia, Scott Morrison also attended the event.
ECTA would remove trade barriers and open up huge opportunities in both goods and services for both nations.
Vikas Kumar appointed as third Managing Director of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC)
Vikas Kumar will take over as the new Managing Director (DM) of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) with effect from April 1, 2022. Kumar is taking over the post from Dr. Mangu Singh, who was the DMRC MD since January 1, 2012.
Kumar is a 1988-batch officer of the Indian Railway Traffic Service. He succeeds Mangu Singh, whose tenure ended on March 31, 2022. Kumar is the third managing director of the DMRC after E Sreedharan and Mangu Singh. He will hold the post for a term of five years.
IAF Commemorates 60 years of Glorious Service by Chetak Helicopters
Commemorating 60 Glorious years of service by Chetak Helicopter in IAF, Hon’ble Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh inaugurated a Conclave hosted by Indian Air Force at Air Force Station, Hakimpet on 02 April 2022. The conclave was inaugurated by Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh.
Raksha Mantri released a Special Cover, a Coffee Table Book and a Commemorative Movie on Chetak Helicopters during the conclave. The Chetak helicopter is the oldest operational flying machine with the Indian Air Force. It has been made by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) under the licence agreement. The Chetak Helicopter was inducted into the Indian Air force in 1962.
Ministry of Culture launches ‘Temple 360’ website
Culture & External Affairs Minister Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi launched the website ‘Temple 360’ during an event which was conducted by the Ministry of Culture at IGNCA Ampitheatre, Indira Gandhi National Centre of Arts, New Delhi under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
Temple 360 is a digital platform where anyone can visit or do darshan of 12 Jyotirlinga and Char Dham from any location, making everyone’s life convenient while also keeping people connected. The website also allows a devotee to perform e-Darshan, e-Prashad, e-Aarti and several other services.
International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action 2022: 04 April
On 8 December 2005, the General Assembly declared that 4 April of each year shall be observed as the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action. It was first observed on 4 April 2006.
2022 Theme – “Safe Ground, Safe Steps, Safe Home”
The day was declared by the UNGA on 8 December 2005, to raise awareness about landmines and progress toward their eradication. The celebrations is led by United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS)- Headquarter- New York, United States.
RBI extends the timeline for implementation of cassette swap in all ATMs
The RBI has decided to extend the timeline for implementation of cassette swap in all ATMs till March 31, 2023.
Earlier, the same was advised to be implemented covering at least one-third of ATMs operated by the banks every year, which was extended to March 2022
Cassette Swap is lockable cassettes that are swapped at the time of cash replenishment in the ATMs. The framework for cassette swap was recommended by the Committee on Currency Movement Chaired by D.K. Mohanty.
UNFPA releases the “State of the World Population 2022
The United Nations Population Fund’s (UNFPA) has released a report titled ‘State of the World Population 2022: Seeing the Unseen.
The report shows that nearly half of all pregnancies were unintended. The report highlights over 60% of unintended pregnancies ended in abortion, with 45% of all abortions considered unsafe, causing 5-13% of all maternal deaths.

President Kovind embarks on 2-nation tour
President Ram Nath Kovind embarked on a two-nation tour to Turkmenistan and the Netherlands.
During the first leg of the tour, the President is visiting Turkmenistan. This will be the first-ever visit of an Indian President to Turkmenistan. This visit is significant as it is taking place as India marks 30 years of diplomatic relations with Turkmenistan. On the second leg, President Kovind will be on a four-day visit to the Netherlands.

IREDA sanctions Rs 267 cr loan to BluSmart Mobility for electric cars
IREDA has sanctioned a loan of over Rs 267 cr to start-up company BluSmart Mobility for the purchase of three thousand electric cars.
IREDA is a Mini Ratna Company under the administrative control of the New and Renewable Energy Ministry. It is country’s leading financial institution dedicated to clean energy expansion.
BluSmart company is working on India’s path to zero-emission mobility, improving the quality of life of the driver-partners.
India’s unemployment rate falls to 7.6% in March from 8.1% in Feb 2022: CMIE Report
India’s unemployment rate drops to 7.6% in March from 8.1% in Feb 2022: The overall unemployment rate in India has dropped from 8.10% (February 2022) to 7.6% (March 2022), as per the data from the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE).
The report also stated that though the overall unemployment rate in the country is falling, it is still high for a “poor” country like India. Haryana recorded the highest unemployment rate in March 2022, at 26.7 percent. It was followed by Rajasthan (25%) and Jammu and Kashmir (25 %), Bihar (14.4%), Tripura (14.1%) and West Bengal (5.6%).
Karnataka and Gujarat states have registered the least unemployment rate at 1.8.% each in March 2022.
FICCI Projects India’s GDP growth rate for FY23 at 7.4%
India’s GDP is estimated to grow at 7.4% in the financial year 2022-23 with rising prices triggered by the Russia-Ukraine conflict posing as the biggest challenge to the global economic recovery, Ficci’s Economic Outlook Survey released on Sunday said.

Modi-Deuba inaugurate India-Nepal passenger rail lin
PM Narendra Modi and visiting Nepalese PM Sher Bahadur Deuba jointly flagged off the 1st India-Nepal passenger rail link.
They also launched the RuPay payment card in Nepal and inaugurated the Solu Corridor 132 KV Power transmission line and substation in Nepal.
It is built under the Indian govt’s Line of Credit. This is Deuba’s 1st bilateral visit abroad after becoming PM in July 2021. He visited India in each of his 4 earlier stints as PM, the last one being in 2017.
