Union minister for ports, shipping, and waterways & Ayush Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated the launching of five vessels at Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL) and inaugurated the new Radars and Vessel Traffic Management System of Cochin Port Trust.
He also inaugurated the launching function of three Floating Border Out-Posts (FBOP) for the Border Security Force and two Fully Electric Autonomous Ferries for ASKO Maritime AS, Norway, which are amongst the world’s first Autonomous Ferries.

The Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA), a PSU under the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, on November 02, 2021, launched a ‘whistle-blower Portal’, as a part of ‘Vigilance Awareness Week 2021’.
The Whistle-blower Portal has been developed by the IT Team of the company and will help the IREDA employees to raise concerns related to fraud, corruption, abuse of power among other things.
The IREDA is a PSU under the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) established as a Non-Banking Financial Institution.
Flipkart, India’s homegrown e-commerce marketplace, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Rural Development of the Government of India (MoRD), for their ambitious Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM) program, to help empower local businesses and self-help groups (SHGs) – especially those that are led by women – by bringing them into the e-commerce fold.
The MoU is a part of Flipkart’s Samarth programme which aims to support skilled craftsmen, weavers, and artisans of the under-served communities by helping them to sell online through the Flipkart marketplace. Under the programme, e-commerce knowledge and training around onboarding, cataloging, marketing, account management, business insights, and warehousing are also imparted.
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) approves acquisition by HDFC Life Insurance Company (Acquirer) of 100% shareholding in Exide Life Insurance Company Limited (Target) under Section 31(1) of the Competition Act, 2002.
After the acquisition, Exide Life will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of HDFC Life.
It is proposed to merge Exide Life with HDFC Life.
IRCTC & Truecaller join hands to ensure verified communication! In order to reduce fraudulent activities, the e-ticketing and catering arm of Indian Railways, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has entered into a partnership with the caller identification platform. Truecaller to assure passengers that critical communication such as booking details as well as PNR status is being delivered only by the e-ticketing corporation and no one else.
Under the agreement, the integrated Helpline Number of Indian Railways, 139, will now be verified by Truecaller Business Identity solutions.
Union Minister for Ports has inaugurated new Radars and Vessel Traffic Management System (VTMS) of Cochin Port Trust.
VTMS commissioned in Cochin Port in 2009 has been upgraded with a state-of-the-art system consisting of 2 new radars, 1 AIS Base station, 3 VHF Radios, and associated software and hardware installed at ₹5.8-Cr.
It is an essential tool for enhancing the safety of navigation in the port by monitoring and regulating the shipping movements.
The Former Prime Minister of Afghanistan Ahmad Shah Ahmadzai has passed away at the age of 78.
Ahmadzai served as prime minister of Afghanistan from 1995 to 1996 soon before the Taliban took control of the country.
Earlier this month, he returned to Afghanistan from India through an Attari check post with Pakistan.
Azim Premji, the founder-chairman of Wipro Ltd has topped the EdelGive Hurun India Philanthropy List 2021.
The 76-year-old made the highest contribution of Rs 9,713 crore between April 2020 and March 2021 towards philanthropic causes to retain the top position for the second year in a row. Shiv Nadar, founder, and chairman of HCL Technologies retained the second spot with an annual donation of Rs 1,263 crore.
Mukesh Ambani of Reliance Industries, India’s richest man by a distance, came third on the list with a Rs 577 crore contribution and was succeeded by Kumar Mangalam Birla with Rs 377 crore. The second richest Indian Gautam Adani is eighth on the givers’ list with a donation of Rs 130 crore towards disaster relief.
The EdelGive Hurun India Philanthropy List 2021 is compiled by the EdelGive Foundation and Hurun Research Institute. It is the eighth edition of the annual list. The list ranks individuals from India who donated Rs 5 crore and above between April 1, 2020, and March 31, 2021, towards philanthropic contributions.
The dance festival of Chhattisgarh, as part of the tourism development plan of the state, was inaugurated by Chief Minister of Jharkhand Hemant Soren and Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Bhupesh Baghel on October 28 at Science College ground in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh. This year’s event was clubbed with Chattisgarh’s Rajyotsava (state foundation day- November 1, 2021).
The festival will host artists belonging to diverse tribal communities from countries including Uzbekistan, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Syria, Mali, Palestine, and the Kingdom of Eswatini. India’s Harbhajan Singh and Javagal Srinath have been awarded life membership of the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), and this club has released the list of 18 Cricketers who were selected for the MCC awards Honorary Life Membership of the Club.
