Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), Ministry of Coal, under its CSR initiative has signed two MoU with an investment of Rs1.38 crore with the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET), Bhubaneswar for providing skill development training to the youths from the peripheral villages of mining areas.
Two CSR initiatives/MoU named ‘Udaan’ and ‘Sahyog’ will help 40 youths from peripheral villages to join a two-year full-time ITI training in fitter/electrician trades and 30 divyangjan to join a six-month-long skill training programme respectively.

Union Health Minister, Mansukh Mandaviya has launched the Sixth Edition of the National Formulary of India (NFI) 2021. NFI has been published by the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) to promote the rational use of medicines in the country.
It has been drafted by adopting the principle ‘do not miss critical and do not overload’ the information by revising the appendices, chapters, and drug monographs. It will beneficial for Clinicians, Healthcare, and the patients.
The Ministry of Power has released the State Energy Efficiency Index (SEEI) 2020. as per the index, Karnataka state has topped the State Energy Efficiency Index (SEEI) 2020. Rajasthan is on the second rank followed by Haryana on third.
Rajasthan has been given 61 points and is a tremendous rise from the score of 18.5 at the SEEI 2019 year index. Last year i.e. in SEEI 2019 ranking, Rajasthan was on top.
State Energy Efficiency Index is released by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and the Alliance for an Energy-Efficient Economy (AEEE).
Netherlands all-rounder Ryan ten Doeschate on October 28, 2021, announced his retirement from international cricket after his side failed to qualify for the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup.
The 41-year-old has played in 33 ODIs and 24 T20s for the Netherlands.
The government has reappointed Shaktikanta Das as the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) governor for three more years. The re-appointment is effective from December 10, 2021, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. The decision was approved by the appointments committee of the cabinet late.
Mr. Das assumed the charge as the 25th governor of RBI on December 12, 2018, for three years. Before his appointment at RBI, Das served as a member of the 15th Finance Commission. Mr. Das is a 1980 batch Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer from the Tamil Nadu cadre.
Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri will inaugurate the 14th Urban Mobility Conference 2021 through a video conference on October 29, 2021. The conference was inaugurated by the Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs & Petroleum and Natural Gas Shri Hardeep S. Puri from New Delhi.
The main theme of this year’s conference is Mobility for all which focuses on providing equitable access and promote inclusive urban transportation. It was held under the aegis of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
Objective: provide an opportunity to decision-makers and delegates to interact with professionals, experts, academia, industry, civil society, technology, services providers, and other stakeholders in Urban Transport, both domestic and international, to develop their urban transport along a sustainable path, as well as discuss key issues relevant to the sector and suggest measures to address them.
Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Shri Narendra Singh Tomar addressed a National Conference on the “International Year of Fruits and Vegetables” on October 29, 2021.
The conference was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
It was held to commemorate 2021 as the International Year of Fruits and Vegetables, as declared by United Nations Organization. The theme for International Year of Fruits and Vegetables 2021 is “Awareness about the nutritional benefits of fruits and vegetables for balanced and healthy diet and life style.”
Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook, as a corporate name, will now be called Meta. So, when CEO Mark Zuckerberg said “one more thing” late during the Facebook Connect 2021 event, many guessed right that the rebranding was set to be announced. With the change in the name, ‘Meta Platforms, Inc. will henceforth be called the parent organization of Facebook and its subsidiaries (Instagram, Messenger, Whatsapp, Oculus, Workplace, etc.) The term “Meta” is taken from a Greek word that means “beyond” and reflects the futuristic motive.
Even on Google, Facebook now owns the domain name meta.com. However, on Instagram, the company has taken the handle @wearameta instead of @meta, as first spotted by Quartz.
During the 17th meeting of the State Board for Wildlife (SBWL), the government of Maharashtra approved its own Wildlife Action Plan (2021-2030), which will be implemented over the next 10 years. Maharashtra has become the first state in the country to release its own Wildlife Action plan (2021-30). The board has also approved the extension of the boundary of Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, in the Chandrapur district of the Vidarbha region, by around 79 sq km.
The new plan will be a guiding document to frame an action plan for wildlife conservation over the next 10 years. The Wildlife Action plan (2021-30) recognizes concerns about climate change impacts on wildlife, coastal ecosystems, marine biodiversity, flora, and fauna.
NITI Aayog has released a comprehensive report titled “Health Insurance for India’s Missing Middle”, on October 29, 2021, which brings out the gaps in the health insurance coverage across the Indian population and offers solutions to address the situation.
The report has a Foreword by NITI Aayog Member Dr. V.K. Paul. The report has stated that 30% of the Indian population are devoid of health insurance, and has termed them as the “missing middle”
