UNHRC appoints Tuvalu negotiator Dr Ian Fry as first climate change expert
UNHRC appoints Tuvalu negotiator Dr Ian Fry as the first climate change expert:The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) has announced the appointment of Dr Ian Fry as the world’s first independent expert on human rights and climate change for a period of three years.
Dr Fry has been appointed for a period of three years. He holds dual citizenship of Tuvalu and Australia. The position of Special Rapporteur for human rights and climate change was created by UNHRC in October 2021.
The new independent expert will have the mandate to “study and identify how the adverse effects of climate change, including sudden and slow onset disasters, affect the full and effective enjoyment of human rights and make recommendations on how to address and prevent these adverse effects.
Viktor Orban wins Fourth Term as Prime Minister of Hungary
Viktor Orban has won a fourth successive term as Hungary’s prime minister, capping a campaign dominated by his controversial stance on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine with a speech that appeared to mock Volodymyr Zelenskiy, the Ukrainian leader.
His right-wing Fidesz party secured 53.1% of the total 98% of the count complete. The 58-year-old is already the longest-serving head of government in the EU, since assuming the role of Prime Minister in May 2010.
64th Grammy Awards 2022
The 64th annual Grammy Awards took place Sunday night after being delayed by the Omicron variant. The show was held in Las Vegas for the first time at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, and Trevor Noah returned as the host. A majority of the awards were presented at the premiere ceremony, held before the telecast. The award ceremony took place on April 03, 2022, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
The 64th GRAMMY Awards recognizes recordings (including musical artistes, compositions and albums) released between September 01, 2020 to September 30, 2021. Jon Batiste received the most nominations with eleven and Batiste also received the most awards with five.

- Album of the Year : We Are (Jon Batiste)

It must be noted that Indian music composer, Ricky Kej also won the Grammy Award for his album Divine Tides, for the Best New Age Album. He won the award jointly with rock legend Stewart Copeland. This is the second Grammy Award win for Kej.

Tata Group will launch its most awaited super app Neu on April 7. You will be able to download this app from the Google Play Store. The main objective of the Tata Group is to grow the digital wing of the company so that the already existing companies in the market like Amazon, Flipkart, and Reliance Group’s JioMart can be given tough competition. Tata Neu is being launched as a supper app where users can find everything, from groceries to gadgets, and getaways.
App will enable users to access all digital services and apps offered by Tata Group such as booking AirAsia flights, booking hotels at Taj Group, ordering groceries from Bigbasket and many other services. Payments can be made instantly for any online and in-store purchases, utility bills & more, using Tata Pay, a United Payments Interface (UPI)-based digital payments service.
Flipkart Foundation launched for growth of rural area and women
Homegrown e-commerce giant, The Flipkart Group has constituted and launched the Flipkart Foundation, a new platform with focus on development in rural areas and providing equitable access to growth opportunities for women and other disadvantaged communities.
Flipkart Group has launched the Flipkart Foundation which will aim to build an inclusive, equitable and sustainable society in the country. It will also positively impact 20 million lives directly and indirectly in the next decade, the official statement said.
The operations of Flipkart Foundation will be grant-based. The contributions will come from the Flipkart Group and through the ‘Charity Checkout’ feature available on Flipkart platforms. The Flipkart Foundation will engage with diverse stakeholders to enable transformational development work for society and the economy, by offering support to underprivileged sections of society and make them a part of the country’s growth story.
Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan Mohan Reddy inaugurates 13 new districts
After inaugurating 13 new districts, Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on April 04, 2022 said that it is a great day for the people of the state with decentralization.
The new districts have been carved out from the existing 13 districts. With this, the total number of districts in the state have increased to 26 district.
Bengaluru-based Spacetech startup Pixxel launches ‘Shakuntala’ satellite with SpaceX’s Falcon-9 rocket
A SpaceX rocket carried a low-orbit imaging satellite built by Bengaluru-headquartered startup Pixxel into space on Friday, a first for the company to place a slew of satellites in space to track earth phenomena, particularly climate change.
The full-fledged commercial satellite was launched onboard Falcon-9 rocket of Elon Musk-run SpaceX from Cape Canaveral in the US. The launch took place under SpaceX`s Transporter-4 mission.
The ‘Shakuntala’ satellite is a low-orbit imaging satellite, installed with one of the highest-resolution hyperspectral commercial cameras ever flown to space. This will help to track the invisible changes of Earth like deforestation, natural gas leakages, pollution, declining crop health, melting ice caps, and other data critical for climate change assessments.

National Maritime Day 2022 : 5 April
