Legendary actor Dilip Kumar Passed Away
Legendary actor Dilip Kumar passed away recently at the age of 98. Known as the ‘Tragedy King’ of Bollywood, the veteran actor’s career spanned over six decades.
Mohammed Yusuf Khan, popularly known as Dilip Kumar, was an Indian actor, film producer and philanthropist, best known for his work in Hindi cinema.
Later referred as “The First Khan”,he has been credited for bringing a distinct form of method acting technique to cinema.
Kumar holds the record for most wins for the Filmfare Award for Best Actor and was also the inaugural recipient of the award.
He has acted in over 65 films in his career and is known for his iconic roles in movies like ‘Devdas ‘(1955), ‘Naya Daur’ (1957), ‘Mughal-e-Azam’ (1960), ‘Ganga Jamuna’ (1961), ‘Kranti’ (1981), and ‘Karma’ (1986). He was last seen in ‘Qila’ in 1998.
86th birthday of Dalai Lama
The 6th of July is marked as the birthday of Dalai Lama. On 6th July 2021, 86th birthday of Dalai Lama is being observed all over the world.
The 14th Dalai Lama also known as Gyalwa Rinpoche to the Tibetan people, is the current Dalai Lama, the highest spiritual leader of Tibet, and a retired political leader of Tibet.
Born on 6 July 1935, or in the Tibetan calendar, in the Wood-Pig Year, 5th month, 5th day, he is considered a living Bodhisattva; specifically, an emanation of Avalokiteśvara.
He is also the leader of the Gelug school, the newest school of Tibetan Buddhism,[5] formally headed by the Ganden Tripa.
He is the chief Patron of the Maha Bodhi Society of India, conferred upon him at the 2008 Annual General Meeting of the Maha Bodhi Society of India.
Government creates a new Ministry of Co-operation
A separate ‘Ministry of Co-operation’ has been created by the Modi Government for realizing the vision of ‘Sahkar se Samriddhi’.
This ministry will provide a separate administrative, legal and policy framework for strengthening the cooperative movement in the country.
It will help deepen Co-operatives as a true people based movement reaching upto the grassroots.
In our country, a Co-operative based economic development model is very relevant where each member works with a spirit of responsibility.
The Ministry will work to streamline processes for ‘Ease of doing business’ for co-operatives and enable development of Multi-State Co-operatives (MSCS).
The Central Government has signaled its deep commitment to community based developmental partnership. Creation of a separate Ministry for Co-operation also fulfils the budget announcement made by the Finance Minister.
First commercial shipment of Mishri variety of cherries
A first commercial shipment of Mishri variety of luscious cherries from Kashmir valley has been exported to Dubai from Srinagar.
Prior to this shipment, a sample consignment was sent in the middle of June 2021 from Srinagar to Dubai through air which were transhiped from Mumbai.
Mishri variety of Cherries are not only taste delicious but also contain vitamins, minerals and plant compound with health benefits.
Prior to the shipment, the cherries were harvested, cleaned and packed by APEDA registered exporter while the technical inputs were provided by the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Science and Technology of Kashmir.
APEDA-National Referral Laboratory at National Research Centre for Grapes, Pune provided support for ensuring food safety and quality in the shipment, which would help create brand for cherries especially in the middle-east countries.
Centre launched the Online Course Mobile App “Matsya Setu” for Fish Farmers
Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Shri Giriraj Singh launched the Online Course Mobile App “Matsya Setu”.
The app was developed by the ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (ICAR-CIFA), Bhubaneswar, with the funding support of the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), Hyderabad.
The online course app aims to disseminate the latest freshwater aquaculture technologies to the aqua farmers of the country.
Matsya Setu app has species-wise/ subject-wise self-learning online course modules, where renowned aquaculture experts explain the basic concepts and practical demonstrations on breeding, seed production and grow-out culture of commercially important fishes like carp, catfish, scampi, murrel, ornamental fish, pearl farming etc.
Nitin Gadkari becomes “Brand Ambassador” of Khadi Prakritik Paint
Minister for Road Transport and Highways & MSME Shri Nitin Gadkari declared himself the “Brand Ambassador ” of Khadi Prakritik Paint.
The “Khadi Prakritik Paint” is a first-of-its-kind product based on cow dung as its main ingredient. It is cost-effective as well as odourless and has been certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards.
Khadi Prakritik Paint is the first-of-its-kind paint product, which has been developed by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission. It is an eco-friendly, non-toxic paint which is also claimed to have anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties.
Issues related to 1320MW Maitree Power project
Secretary (Power) Govt of India met Secretary (Power) Govt of Bangladesh through video conferencing for the issues related to 1320MW Maitree Power project.
The project is an environmentally friendly supercritical technology based thermal power plant, and the first unit of this project would be commissioned in December’2021.
Secretary (Power), Govt of Bangladesh assured of the necessary support for completion of the project in time and appreciated the progress made by the project so far, despite the COVID constraints since last year.
Both sides also discussed about the date of the meeting of the next JWG /JSC for the India-Bangladesh Cooperation in Power Sector. It has been decided to hold JWG/JSC meeting in the 3rd week of September 2021.
EAM S Jaishankar to embark on three-day official visit to Russia
External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar is going to pay a three day official visit to Russia to discuss the entire range of bilateral issues, including cooperation in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic as well as exchange of views on various regional and international issues.
India and the Soviet Union established diplomatic relations on April 13, 1947, some months before India’s formal Independence in August that year, through an exchange of diplomatic notes between their envoys in China.

Tele-Law programme crossed a 9 lakh beneficiaries milestone
The Department of Justice commemorates the milestone of crossing nine lakh beneficiaries under its Tele-Law programme.
The programme connects the disadvantaged and needy seeking legal advice from Panel Lawyers through e-interface platform available in Common Service Centres.
Law and Justice Ministry said, Tele-Law programme is presently operational in 633 districts, including 115 Aspirational Districts across 34 States and Union Territories through a network of 50 thousand Common Service Centres.
Tele-Law saw a surge of 369 per cent growth in number of beneficiaries seeking legal advice during last one year.
Prakash Javadekar inaugurated Virtual India Pavilion at 74th Cannes Film Festival
Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar opened up facilitation office for international film makers and all approvals are to be given in one go.
Inaugurating the India Pavilion during the 74th Cannes Film Festival, the Minister hoped that the world comes out of the pandemic very soon and people come back to theatres once again.
This is the second year when the pavilions are being virtually organized. The virtual India pavilion can become a meeting place to meet and discuss the future of world of cinema.
Plane crash in Russia’s Far East Palana
Wreckage from the AN-26 aircraft was found on a coastal cliffside and in the sea near the airport in the town of Palana. The plane was on approach for a landing in fog and clouds when it missed a scheduled communication and disappeared from radar.

Rampal Maitree Power project to be commissioned in Dec 2021
The first unit of the Maitree Power Project at Rampal will be commissioned in December this year in Bangladesh, coinciding with the country’s Golden Jubilee Celebration of the Liberation.
The second unit is expected to be commissioned matching with the implementation of the associated transmission system.
The Rampal Power Station is a 1320 megawatt coal-fired power station currently under construction at Rampal Upazila of Bagerhat District in Khulna, Bangladesh.
The power plant is being constructed on an area of over 1834 acres of land, is situated 14 kilometres north of the world’s largest mangrove forest Sundarbans which is a UNESCO world heritage site. It will be the country’s largest power plant.
Delhi Skill University launched 11 undergraduate courses
The Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU) launched 11 flagship skill-based undergraduate courses and admissions for 6,000 seats in their inaugural academic year (2021-22).
Applications will be starting for 39 programmes, which include full-time and part-time diploma courses, undergraduate degree courses, B.Tech. programmes and two Masters programmes.
Industry partnerships are an integral part of the university’s curriculum. An entrepreneurship component is to be a part of all the programmes.
In every course in the third year, there is an entrepreneurship orientation course. If any student shows interest in starting an entrepreneurship, it will have a special support cell and special course module to help them set up.
Tunnel Excavation work of SJVN’s Naitwar Mori HEP Completed
SJVN, a CPSE under Ministry of Power has completed the Tunnel Excavation work of its Naitwar Mori Hydro Electric Project in Uttarakhand.
Naitwar Mori HEP has the potential to generate 265.5 million units of electricity every year and the State of Uttarakhand will get 12% free Power as a Royalty.
The project will also lead to the achievement of the Shared vision of SJVN, for becoming a 25000 MW Company by 2040.
The Project which is targeted to be completed by April 2022.
