Damodar Rajanarasimha Appointed As Telangana’s Health Minister

In a surprising move, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy appointed Damodar Rajanarasimha Cilarapu, an engineering graduate, as the Health Minister of the state. This decision has sparked discussions and debates, given the traditional expectation of having a medical professional in charge of the health portfolio.

Political Journey of Damodar Rajanarasimha

Damodar Rajanarasimha, a seasoned politician affiliated with the Indian National Congress (INC), began his political career in 1989. He secured a seat as a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Andole constituency. Despite initial setbacks, he demonstrated resilience and won elections in 2004 and 2009.

Ministerial Roles and Achievements

Rajanarasimha’s political ascent reached new heights when he became a member of Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy’s cabinet in 2004. He initially served as the Minister for Primary Education and later took on the responsibility of Minister for Marketing and Warehousing in 2009. His journey continued as he assumed the role of Deputy Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh in 2011, holding the position until April 2014.

Victory in the 2023 Telangana Assembly Elections

In the recently concluded 2023 Telangana Assembly elections, Rajanarasimha secured a significant victory in the Andole constituency.
