Ex Odisha MP And 3 Time MLA Trilochan Kanungo passes away: Trilochan Kanungo, a well-known economist and long-time member of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) party, died at the age of 82. Mr. Kanungo was previously the chairman of Cuttack Municipality and served as the chairperson of the state finance commission. He was born on November 24, 1940 in the hamlet of Badamulei in the Cuttack district and had lived in the Sheikh Bazaar neighbourhood of Cuttack city for the previous several years.

In 1999, he was elected to the Lok Sabha from Jagatsinghpur Parliamentary constituency. He was renowned for his erudition and had served as the chairperson of Cuttack municipality twice. He was the chairman of the second Odisha Finance Commission. He was a student leader and president of Ravenshaw College and Utkal University in the 1960s. Trilochan’s younger brother, Panchanan Kanungo, is a former finance minister who joined the Congress party in 2019.
