Farm System : Agriculture
Agriculture or farming is a system in which seeds, fertilizers, machinery and labour are important inputs. Agriculture is also considered one of the longest-running systems known to mankind. People started cultivating land in ancient times because it provided them with food, clothing and shelter.
Ploughing, sowing, irrigation, weeding, and harvesting are some of the operations that farmers do during their jobs. The first step is ploughing. Ploughing helps in breaking the soil to create a good seed bed on which seeds can be spread.
Unlike a regular plough a farmer uses in his farm where a single blade is used for ploughing, in pivot farming three blades move in a circular motion. This helps in creating extra paths where seeds can be dropped at appropriate time so they don’t get killed out by the germinating weeds.
Agro-Industry is designed to produce crops (wheat, barley, vegetables, leguminous plants, etc.) and livestock (cattle, sheep, boars) on agricultural enterprises. It includes crops delivery to the processing industry (bread baking plants etc.), grain storage facilities and grain hauling to the railroad terminals.
Cattle is processed at meat processing plants then transported to meat plants or butcher shops. Wool is sorted at wool sorting plants then transported for further treatment.
Poultry products are processed at poultry processing plants then transported to farmyards/farms. Outputs produced by this system are sold at local markets or exported via waterways.
