Japan’s parliament elected former foreign minister Fumio Kishida as the new prime minister on October 04, 2021. Kishida replaces his predecessor, Yoshihide Suga. The 64-year-old Kishida received 257 votes, from 249 parliament members to be sworn in as the 100th Prime Minister of the country. He replaces Yoshihide Suga, who submitted his resignation along with his entire cabinet on October 04, 2021.
