Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani Resigns
In a sudden but not unexpected move, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani resigned on Saturday after completing five years at the helm, paving the way for a change of guard ahead of crucial Assembly polls next year.
Mr. Rupani, accompanied by the Union ministers Mansukh Mandavia, Parshottam Rupala, Bhupender Yadav and his cabinet colleagues met the Governor Acharya Devvrat, and submitted his resignation. Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has resigned from his post, ahead of the state assembly elections, to be held in 2022.
The senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader submitted his resignation letter to Governor Acharya Devvrat, on September 11, 2021 at the Raj Bhawan.
The 61-year-old Rupani was sworn in as Gujarat Chief Minister on August 07, 2016, and represents Rajkot West in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly.
