The lion population in Gujarat has now grown to 674, spanning an area of 30,000 square kilometers. Last year, Gir attracted around 800,000 tourists. CM Patel highlighted the Central government’s dedication to lion preservation through ‘Project Lion,’ which has been allocated a budget of Rs 2,900 crore. This ambitious project encompasses the establishment of a breeding center, an isolation facility, and enhanced medical care for lions. CCTV cameras, radio collars, and drones are among the advanced technical tools that will be used to aid in monitoring and conservation activities.
