IEA invites India to become a full-time member

The International Energy Agency (IEA) has invited India, the world’s third-largest energy consumer, to become its full-time member.

This membership invitation was given in the light that, India is the world’s third-largest energy consumer. If this proposal is accepted, it will require India to increase its strategic oil reserve to 90 days requirement. India’s current strategic oil reserves equal 9.5 days of its requirement.
