India ranks 101 in Global Hunger Index 2021

India has slipped to the 101st position in the Global Hunger Index (GHI) 2021 of 116 countries, from its 2020 position of 94th, and is behind its neighbors Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Nepal. The 2021 GHI score of India is recorded at 27.5 out of 50, which comes under the serious category.

total of 18 countries, including China, Brazil, and Kuwait, shared the top rank with a GHI score of less than five, the website of the Global Hunger Index that tracks hunger and malnutrition. The Global Hunger Index (GHI) measures and tracks hunger at global, regional, and national levels.

The index is published jointly by Welthungerhilfe (WHH) and Concern Worldwide. Based on current GHI projections, the index states that the world as a whole will not achieve a low level of hunger by 2030.
