About Institute
Indian Institute of Technology also known as IIT Kanpur was established in the year 1959 as one of the first Indian Institutes of Technology. The institute was founded with the help of a consortium of 9 US research universities as a part of Kanpur Indo-American Programme. It is public engineering college that has been declared to be an institute of National Importance by the Government of India. It was first institute in India to a course in computer science.
