India’s Virat Kohli becomes first batter to score 4000 runs in T20Is

T20 World Cup 2022: Scoring 50 off 40 deliveries in the second semifinal of the 2022 T20 World Cup, Virat Kohli became the first batter to cross the 4000 T20I run mark. The former India captain was also the first to breach the 3000 run mark in the shortest format for India. Kohli reached the landmark in the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022 against England in Adelaide. Earlier, Kohli surpassed Mahela Jayawardene’s 2014 record of 1016 runs to become the all-time greatest run scorer in men’s T20 World Cup matches against Bangladesh in Adelaide. Kohli, remarkably, raced to the magnificent milestone while batting at an average of 53.34. He is the only batter in the shortest format to average over 50 and reached the milestone in 115 matches.
