International Malala Day 2021

International Malala Day is observed on every 12 July which is based upon the life and struggles of Malala Yousafzai of Pakistan, who advocates for equal access to education for women.

For her efforts toward promoting women’s education in Pakistan, in October of 2012 she was attacked and left in critical condition by the Taliban. She was rushed to a UK hospital, where she recovered.

After her recovery, Malala bravely continued to advocate women’s education. And on her 16th birthday, 12 July, 2013, she delivered a moving speech at the UN in favour of women’s rights to education.

She also founded the Malala Fund to help young girls have access to education.

Malala Day is a time to remember the story of Malala Yousafzai and to stand up for women’s rights to education the world over.
